Default Midnight Snack

I'm sitting here contemplating a snack of canned smoked oysters on
whole grain crackers with cheddar melted on them, garnished with some
jalapeno olive salad (Galli brand). Think I'll do it.

Naw, I used Tabasco for that. And I used Carter's water crackers, not
whole wheat. And I used "la Vache qui Rit" cheese, not cheddar. And
I opted out of the hot olive salad idea (see Tabasco above).

One's judgment is impaired under certain conditions, but I do recall
that it tasted quite good, even if I replaced the cheddar with white
cheese and the hot olive salad with Tabasco and the whole wheat
crackers with water biscuits.

Olive salad tonight!

I'd stop at the contemplating if I were you.

The other night I had peanut butter and leftover chocolate frosting (canned)
on Ritz crackers. Woah boy, that was good stuff!

So, I get home from work, put the casserole I made last night in the
oven, then read this post...and suddenly I don't want dinner after
all.

Sorry, Squeaks. I guess I'll have to keep some of my more egregious
impulses private.

Nothing quite as satisfying as a good midnght snack, is there? Yum! I try to
make a French white baguette last for 3 days or so. The second or third day I
refresh it in my toaster oven. Did you know that if you wet the outside of a
part of a loaf of French bread and put it in a hot toaster oven for about 2
minutes, it will be fresh and crusty? ( not on the "toast" feature, but the
"heating" fixture.) This works spectacularly with croissants . I get
a plastic box of 4 at Albertsons, wet the crust, and put in toaster oven. They
come out crisp on the outside, still soft on the inside.. I got this tip from
one of the Food Network cooks, who always sprays his oven with a lot of water
to make the pizza crust crisp. Also, on a bag of sour dough rolls, there is
suggestion on the back panel that you wet the crust of the roll and then heat
in the oven--Oddly, this makes it very crisp and delicious. I just wet my
fingers thoroughly under the faucet and rub all over the roll/baguette .
