I have a couple of friends coming over to have
a pizza party on Sunday. We're going to make our
own pizzas. I will have a selection of toppings
and we will each make and top our own pizzas. I'm
getting new quarry tiles for the oven. (The old
ones died a couple of years ago and I never got
around to getting new ones. Boy, talk about pro-
crastination!)

We're also going to have a bread-baking lesson and
make some challah. Why, you may ask, am I doing
such a crazy thing in the depths of summer, and a
fairly hot one to date at that? Well, the one friend
who wants to learn to bake bread is only around this
summer. So . . . I'm probably really going to regret
this. :-)

The other friend is the one I've been teaching to
make bread so she is gung ho for another lesson.
The out-of-town friend is the one who wants to make
the challah. She has a recipe that she makes with
a bread machine and wants to learn to make it
completely by hand. Bravo for her. I'm agin those
bread machines. But her reason is that she probably
just can't take the bread machine with her to college.
;-)

So, I'm looking at a really sweaty weekend - blecch! -
but good company and good food. Oh, and I'm also going
to make another rhubarb custard cake for our dessert.
