Default Brawny man ad campaign

I think it's hilarious. I posted a URL to more Brawny man spoofs
yesterday, but nobody responded. Did anybody see it?

Here it is again for anyone who might be interested.

Yes, I saw it and I agree, they are hilarious. The one I saw on TV
with the cake is one of my favorite commercials; now I can view them
when I want to.

Sorry I didn't respond, you definitely deserve three snaps ;> Thanks
for posting it.

Too funny! I'm gonna have to watch all of the little movies. That man is
such a whore. LOL!

D says somebody's been talking to women. I love it that he spent the
whole day hollowing out a canoe and that he volunteers at the zoo and
that he has a miniature pony and that he speaks French...

Oh my gosh! You are right! He/the ad is sooooo creepy! I just clicked on
one of the premade commercial choices and one or two of the custom
previews... Ewwwwwwwww. I keep expecting the camera to pan to the 'girl'
and show a woman tied up and gagged with duct tape. There is something very
icky in those ads. I'd only seen part of a Brawny ad on TV where the guy
was wiping a countertop so much that I was expecting him to wipe off the
finish on it or something... Nope. I'm with you Janet. Ick!

I don't know what it is--I don't find it sensual; and he doesn't capture any
feminine traits in my view, yet he seems threatening. Like one of those
nasty movies where a deranged intruder is taunting someone. (shudder)

IIRC in THX Robert Duval visits an automated shrink much like the Brawny Man

The guy on the Web site isn't the same as the one on TV. The TV guy
just smiles suggestively and doesn't speak. They're both spoofs and
ads at the same time. "I was just upstairs building you an
armoire...Come in, come in." An armoire?

I'm a bit surprised by the "he's creepy" responses, but there you have
it.

I was too! I found them funny in a MP-esque way. Maybe that's what's
missing: a British accent to put everyone at ease.

Now, that sounds tasty. I'm a big fan of grilled cheese on rye,
specially Jewish rye or rye /w dill. I occasionally spread on a
little Asian chile sauce for a zinger.

No, what's missing is Christopher Walken as "The Continental". <G>

I couldn't finish looking - I found him really repulsive. I just felt like
putting two hands on his chest, pushing him away and telling him to shut up.

I just saw the Brawny commercial! He's not creepy, he's simply not
your cup o' tea. In spite of the "words" that refer to Mrs.
Somebody-or-other, that commercial's real demographic isn't female.

I was meaning modom's "innocent escapes" link - he's the one who turns me
off. I haven't seen the ad on commercial TV but isn't it supposed to be a
different "brawnyman"?

It's Mrs. Parker, and I've heard they edited out his -- um -- package
after the ad had run a few times. (Boy, that sentence took lots of
rewrites) D, to whom I am married and whose femaleness I have
ascertained with a high degree of probability (32 years of observation
and experimentation) really enjoys the guy on-line: "There's a word in
German for a woman like you...but I don't know what it is." Who comes
up with this stuff?

Me too. I think they are maybe not brilliant, maybe so in a way, but
certainly very creative. Clearly tapping into something
psychological, which some find funny, others are repulsed by, yet on
the surface, they are very inocuous. I find myself trying to figure
out what it is...

Yes, I was surprised when I found him repulsive. Thinking about it, I
watched four or five of the little movies in succession and I think I felt
threatened by the soft, intimate approach; hence, I wanted to push him away.

I didn't find him creepy, but he's quite the turnoff for me, in spite
of the offers of foot rubs and armoire building. Sort of
lounge-lizardy without all of the slime. I guess I just don't trust
him. Reminds me of someone I dated ages ago.

Maybe that's what people are reacting to: past experience.
