Default TNT Cheese Scones

I haven't made this recipe in awhile but I think I used to reduce the
sugar or omit it all together. I'm sure you could leave the sugar out
and add a pinch of red pepper for a little more spice.

Cheese Scones

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

2 cups flour
1/4 cup sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt -- `
1/4 cup cold butter
1 egg
2/3 cup milk

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.

Beat egg and milk together.

Combine dry ingredients. Cut in butter until crumbly. Make a well in
center and add milk mixture. Add cheese. Stir with a fork until a soft
dough forms.

Turn out onto lightly floured board and knead gently 8 to 10 times.
Divide dough into two equal parts. Pat each into a 6-inch circle.
Transfer to greased baking sheet.

Brush tops with milk. Score into six markings. Bake for 15 minutes or
until nicely browned. Makes 12 scones.
