Sadly, that's true many times, others just want to get home.

One of the maintenance men at work had a stroke many years ago. "I gotta get
home, I gotta get back to work." He had/has great insurance but his refusal to
remain in the hospital and then go for physical therapy has left him a terrible cripple.
That's not to say the therapy would have corrected his immediate disability but there's
nothing that can be done for him now.

He needs to ask his doctor if he can have therapy. It isn't my
understanding of Medicare that he can't.
I get authorized by my doctor at least once a year for some sort of
therapy for one ouchie or or another. I forget how many weeks
Medicare will go for, probably a couple times a year. No cost to me.

Popeye could get treated at the VA.

If he served over three years, he qualifies. I know, because I did.

But they won't allow him to **** all the nurses.

We had a pretty damned good health care system here, but physiotherapy
is not always covered. From what I understand, if a doctor prescribes it
and refers you to the hospital it is covered by the government. I have
extended health care and if the doctor prescribes it I am covered by my
extended health care to a limit. If you have to pay for it yourself...
well, it's pretty damned expensive.

When I was on workman's compensation it was totally covered. When I was
prescribe physio for tennis elbow I had to pay and then apply to the
insurance company for reimbursement. It sure wasn't cheap.

What ****es me off is that my extended coverage will pay for quackery
(chiropracters)
but not physio unless I go for the top tier plan.

That's because you have a very narrowminded view of what's quackery.

I loathe those chiropracters, they are worse than quackery. Just
watching another friend who has been sucked into the system
deteriorating. I was frank and said to her could she not see that it
is in the chiropracters interests to make sure she keeps going back,
if she was cured, she is a loss!! At least she is thinking about it
now.

Marketplace did an item on them about 3 or 4 years ago, showed a woman
in her 30s, the chiropracter had done one of those 'alignments' on her
and apparently it squeezed the carotid (sp ?) artery so badly that she
instantly had a major stroke and would never walk again.

That's like saying don't ask a dentist to fix your broken leg.

And another thing:
Chiropracters and Naturopaths in Alberta were given priority for covid
shots over emergency first responders!

Despite claims that the border closed at the beginning of the pandemic
we have been seeing thousands and thousands of people arriving by air
from covid hot spots, and a lot of them have been infected. Now the
migrant farm workers are arriving and because there were so many
outbreaks among them last year they have been given priority. The plan
was to vaccinate them at the airport upon arrival. There are no plans
for priority vaccination for our border guards who are dealing with
these people.

I don't trust chiropractors. I don't know anyone who has been to one
and been fixed. They get some temporary relief but always have to go
back for more. I have been to physiotherapy for my back and for tennis
elbow and they fixed me up permanently.

they've done fine for me. note, i've also had good results from
physical therapy and massage. so far i've not had any surgery for
my various back issues and i don't need drugs. once in a while i
do go back for an adjustment when i can feel my lower back and hips
start to give me the feeling that they are not moving well any more.
at present that means i go to visit him about once a year.

when gardening season gets underway that usually helps all of my
back and hip issues more than anything else.

My daughter loves hers too. She has problems with the bones in the
back on her neck. It always works for her for a few weeks with no pain
and then she goes back for another massage when it starts up again!

This stroke was about 15-20 years ago, the damage has been done, and
nothing can help him now.

The doctors and nurses begged him to stay and receive therapy
but he refused. Company insurance would have paid for that.
