How big is the engine?
A 4-stroke engine with one litre
displacement operating for 60 minutes at 2500 rpm is
estimated to consume 1 L x 2500/2 rpm x 60 minutes/hour =
75,000 litres of air.

Medical grade concentrators boost O2 to about 90%. I just checked a few
on Amazon, a device capable of 10 litres / minute (= 600 litres/hour)
takes 585 Watts of power.

One would need 139 such units. (75000 / 600 / .9)

Weight is not a problem once the train gets rolling. Power used by the
concentrators is 139 * 585 W = 81 KW, i.e. 109 Horsepower.


How much hp can the unboosted engine you specified be expected to produce
using normal air (20% O2)? We're going to boost it's power 5-fold, but we
will need to take 109 hp off the drive shaft.
