Thanks for looking that up. I've never bought any "flavoured instant oatmeal". It's Bruce again pushing his belief everyone in North America consumes massive amounts of sugar. On the rare occasions I eat oatmeal I add a bit of brown sugar to it but not to the point it could really be called "sweet". I actually like the taste of oats. ![]() Jill |

I had to look it up because I never buy that kind of stuff. I am North American not US American, and I never buy any sweetened cereal, though I will confess that years ago I occasionally enjoyed a bowl of Frosted Flakes. I am disappointed to go through the cold cereal aisle and see how many of them are sweetened. I never buy quick cooking oats because they taste like paste and the instant stuff is even worse. It is large flake or steel ground for me. >On the rare occasions I eat oatmeal > I add a bit of brown sugar to it but not to the point it could really be > called "sweet".Â* I actually like the taste of oats. ![]() > I love the taste of oats. Horses love oats too. I used to love feeding it to my friends horses because they got so excited over it. |

When I had a business, I'd eat that instant oatmeal stuff for breakfast. It was dirt cheap and fast and could be made in the office microwave. What it wasn't was good. I could live with that. Two out of three ain't bad. |

It was dirt cheap and fast and could be made in the office microwave. What it wasn't was good. I could live with that. Two out of three ain't bad. Real oatmeal is cheaper, fast if you plan ahead, and can be made in the office microwave. It's good. Every afternoon my husband prepares a bowl with some oatmeal, raisins and sugar in it, and a container with a measured amount of water. At midnight he wakes up, prepares and eats the oatmeal, takes a Hydrocodone (which upsets his stomach if it's empty), and goes back to bed. Cindy Hamilton |

Microwave directions complete with measurements of water, oats and (optional) salt. One serving: 1 cup water, 1/2 cup of oats. Place in a 2 cup microwave-safe bowl . Microwave on High, 1-1/2 to 2 minutes. Stir. At this point you could add in brown sugar, raisins, drizzle it with maple syrup, whatever the heck you want. Or simply add a little butter and eat it without all that jazz. That's a personal choice. ![]() > Every afternoon my husband prepares a bowl with some oatmeal, raisins > and sugar in it, and a container with a measured amount of water. I often like a small snack late. Last night around 11pm, I had 3 pancakes with butter. That's all...no syrup or anything else. Was quite tasty. When I work at home, I usually work all night for however long it takes. No different from a day job except for different schedule. Even when I don't work, I like the late night hours for tv and reading and I *always* get up by 4am. On non-working days, I get some of my sleep in the mid-afternoons. Those hours (1pm-5pm) have always been the boring hours of the day to me anyway. |

Grandpa had to have his 'parritch' every morning. It was probably Quaker Rolled Oats; steel cut wouldn't have been a thing they could find in a small town in Ohio in the 1920's or, when we were there in 1971. One tiny grocery store in a tiny town. Fast forward... my mother made oatmeal for my brothers and I when we were little kids. I never got into the habit of eating oatmeal for breakfast as an adult. I like it well enough, I simply don't think about it when it comes to breakfast. Hot cereal. Heck, I don't even eat grits all that often. I'd much rather have eggs and toast. Sometimes bacon, sometimes sausage. ![]() > Horses love oats too.
