Brucers, you're just playing with stastistics.

Fact is, in 2019 39 unarmed men were killed by police.
25 were white and 14 black.
Color makes no difference. All 39 posed a threat to the police.

That's beside the point. GM thought his numbers showed that the police
don't kill blacks more often than whites. In reality, his data show
the opposite.

Bruce would have white criminals punished more than black criminals. so
the numbers work out to his satisfaction.

It?s important to note that black men commit nearly half of all murders
in this country, which is astounding when you take into consideration
the fact that they only make up 12-13 per cent of the population.

Our federal government is making some major changes to the criminal
justice system because blacks and natives are "over represented" in the
system. Bleeding hearts seem to interpret that to mean that the system
is exceptionally hard on them. Curiously, both communities suffer from
much higher rates of violent crime than the rest of the country. Heaven
forbid they accept that they are over represented in the courts and the
prisons because they commit more serious crimes.

Oh,, and they suffer because the are "racialized" Last week there was
a woman who worked in the Governor Gemeral's office who says she had to
quit because of racism. She wanted management to send out an email to
all staff on the topic of Floyd George's death at the hands of
police.... and incident in a foreign country. When they failed to act on
her request she sent out email to all the staff in the department and
she was reprimanded for it. She must have slacker standards for the use
of the employer's email system and communications than most people. Now
she is whining about being racialized. I had to look up that newspeak,
and it and it reinforced my understanding of the term, which means to
categorize people by race, like expecting black people to be maids, low
level clerks and kitchen staff. This woman had a position in the
Governor General's office. That is a plum job with good pay, benefits
and opportunity for advancement. That is the sort of job that most
reverse racists would consider to be something requiring white privilege.

How Informed are Americans about Race and Policing?
Research Report: CUPES-007 | February 20, 2021

"Research Question:

This is the seventh report from the Civil Unrest and Presidential Election Study (CUPES). In this report, we investigate a complex and defining issue of 2020 (and, no doubt, many years ahead): race and policing. Amidst calls to €śdefund€ť and reform police agencies, informed understandings of police-citizen interactions are crucial. So, here we ask the question: across the political spectrum, how knowledgeable are people when it comes to the available data on fatal police shootings of Black Americans?

Summary of Findings:

1. The available data on police shootings of unarmed Black men is
incomplete; however, existing data indicate that somewhere
between 13-27 unarmed black men were killed by police in
2019. Adjusted for the number of law enforcement agencies that
have yet to provide data, this number may be higher, perhaps
between 60-100.

€˘ Yet, over half (53.5%) of those reporting €śvery liberal€ť
political views estimated that 1,000 or more unarmed Black
men were killed, a likely error of at least an order of
magnitude (see Figure 1).

2. The available data suggest that 24.9% of people killed by police
in 2019 were Black. However, across the political spectrum,
survey participants overestimated this number.

€˘ Those who reported being €śliberal€ť or €śvery liberal€ť were
particularly inaccurate, estimating the proportion to be 56%
and 60%, respectively (see Figure 2).

Take-home Messages:

1. Our overall findings indicate that people are uninformed
regarding the available data on fatal police shootings in the US.
2. Specifically, we found that the more people reported being
€śliberal€ť or €śvery liberal€ť on social and fiscal matters, the
greater the discrepancy between the available data and their
estimations.
3. What might explain peoples misestimations of these statistics?
Is it liberals relatively greater concern with racism? Differential
media consumption? Perhaps you have an idea or explanation
youd like to share? Have an interpretation of this you want to
share? Email it to ..."
