With age, I don't have the flexibility that I once had to twist around
to look through the rear window when reversing. The camera overcomes that.

Perhaps it is something older drivers need to work out. Drivers' crash
rates increase as they age, and one of the most prevalent crash
locations is intersections because they don't look. A lot of that is
because of loss of flexibility. I noticed myself turning my head less
and made a point of exercising my neck, turning to the left and to the
right.

My CRV (2013)has a back up camera and I was never terribly impressed
with it. It is not all that clear. Having been in some newer and higher
end cars with I can see them being a lot more useful. People should
still be capable of backing up with out one. One of my concerns is that
if people become too reliant on backup cameras they will stop looking
around and using their eyes.

IMO, that's the time for older drivers to quit driving.

I did a short stint as a driver examiner back when drivers over 80 and
those over 70 who had had an accident had to do a road test every year.
We left Wednesday mornings for seniors road tests. I very quickly
learned to hate Wednesdays. You would hope that 65 years of driving
would mean they knew how to drive. In reality, it was the result of 65
years of learning bad driving habits.
