Thunderbird gives one the option of only downloading the last selected
number of messages, while marking the older ones 'read.'

The last time I used a newsreader was many, many beers ago, on a Win98
machine. I need to learn my way around again. I've got the Win7 SSD
back in my computer, and I need to get the other one back out and put
the Linux disk in that one.

A friend of mine (© Dave Smith) is constantly horsing around with his
computer. Windows this, Windows that, Linux, etc. Always asking me how
to do something or undo something. But he doesn't really use his
computer, except for a bit of browsing and emailing. I think it's a
form of therapy.

You only have to let it do that once. In Agent, at least, you can tell
it to only download 50 sample messages or something like that.

Thunderbird does that too. Only thing is, you actually have to look at
the box on the screen and read it. Set it for any number you want and
any time it exceeds that number it asks if you want them all.

Right. Shouldn't be a big problem then. If dsi1 stopped using
Thunderbird because of this "problem", he'll always have a problem.
