Yes, flying gives you no views at altitude.
Driving takes a long time, more than I'd want to do again.
Never done this across country but I think a train would be the way to
do it. Sit back and relax and enjoy the day time views.

My only train experiences were from Washington dc to western maryland
but fun trips.
