Yes, flying gives you no views at altitude. Driving takes a long time, more than I'd want to do again. Never done this across country but I think a train would be the way to do it. Sit back and relax and enjoy the day time views. My only train experiences were from Washington dc to western maryland but fun trips. |

I've driven cross country many times, even the long way across Canada, but those trips were in my 20s-30s, I don't think I'd want to attempt it now, and there's not much to see across Canada except a million miles of flat nothingness until you reach the Rockies. There were grain mills every 20 kilometers all across the middle of Canada, you'd no sooner lose sight of the last one in the rear view mirror when another would rise up in front of you. All I can say is anyone wants to try it be sure to fuel up at every station along the way, you do not want to run out of fuel out there and not every station was operating, I came close to running out of fuel in Thunder Bay. And don't drive at night crossing over the Great Lakes, no lighting and critters all over the roads, moose and bear. And when parking for the night at a motel don't leave a lick of food in your vehicle, those huge bears will peel it open like a can opener. |
