I moderate/admin a reddit about a specific medical condition (among
others). I banned this one guy, who I doubted was really a doctor, and who wanted "special" recognition in the reddit (in the form of flair as a real Doctor). He was peddling a suspicious cure/relief for the condition which sounded like snake oil. Of course he got all huffy about the ban. To prove he was a doctor he sent me his credentials of his latest appointment as an Associate Professor of Neurophysiology in New York. Which turned out to be real - He was a doctor. WAS, that is - at one time. After a little more diligent research it turned out to be THIS guy: https://www.washingtonpost.com/archi...-2df1ddbc885b/ He also patented a fart-propelled rocket: "To operate the assembly, the operator places the inlet tube with its valve open adjacent his anal region from which a colonic gas is discharged....." https://patents.google.com/patent/US6055910A/en He has a bunch of other patents that are probably just for squatting on. He did sell his most important patent right after he got arrested - probably to buy a few packages of ramen noodles from the jail commissary. -sw |

Amazing how you can be smart enough to be a doctor but still be really stupid. |

He lost his doctor license, but somehow he managed to buy this 550K house in St Lucie, FL in 2005: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/8...70416455_zpid/ But it's now back on the market. And that is a staged house interior. His business address, OTOH, is a mobile home in a mobile home park. I suspect that's his REAL residence and this house is some sort of different scam. Or a vacation rental? <shrug> If that's really his house, then he didn't really NEED that money. That pig! Asking for $5 million and making those threats, and recorded on a wiretap was a little, uh... stupid? He must have some sort of other scams going because he wouldn't be scraping reddit to sell his overpriced $250 medical gadget with the intensity that he is now (he's desperate). It doesn't sound like anybody in the reddit has bought the device. -sw |
