It's a big, sometimes violent, yearly discussion in the Netherlands:
are Sinterklaas' blackfaced "Black Pete" helpers racist or not? Is it
enough to say their faces are black from climbing through the
chimneys? Or do their faces have to be rainbow coloured and treacle
waffle coloured, like the PC people want? A fascinating discussion
that adds to the folklore.

It's a whole lot worse than you think. Those "elves" are actually 5 to 7 year old kids who were kidnapped from the Netherlands. Once they reach 8 years of age, they are released into Mexico where they are refused entry into the United States.

The US Border Patrol knows about this but aren't ever going to spill the beans thus perpetuating the Myth & Magic of Christmas. The Border Patrol's real mission is to keep Dutch kids from crossing the border and messing up Christmas for the rest of us. It's a thankless job but this Thanksgiving, we should all remember the men and women whose dedication and service are protecting our American way of life - from the Dutch.

In Sunday's newspaper they had an article. An interview with an
older Mexican drug smuggler. He agreed to do it if remains
anonymous.

Said that no matter what the US does, they always find a
way to smuggle drugs.

Then he said that many women and children die crossing
the Rio Grande river during times of heavy flow.

He also said that the current rumor down there is that
Donald Trump plans to import and relocate crocodiles
into the Rio Grande to help stem the flow of immigrants.
LOL! IMO, he should also stock it with hippos as they
kill more humans each year than the crocks do.

Anyway, he said that if Trump brings in the crocodiles,
they'll just eat them and start a good business by
selling the valuable hides. Too funny.

Hippos would be terrifying. My guess is that they wouldn't last very long in the Rio Grande. OTOH, that's the kind of out of the box thinking that made America grate!
