It's a big, sometimes violent, yearly discussion in the Netherlands:
are Sinterklaas' blackfaced "Black Pete" helpers racist or not? Is it
enough to say their faces are black from climbing through the
chimneys? Or do their faces have to be rainbow coloured and treacle
waffle coloured, like the PC people want? A fascinating discussion
that adds to the folklore.
