![]() Â* It was a cold and stormy night ... no , wait , it really was ! Actually it was a rainy day , and I wanted some baked chicken , so I did one up in the oven . But that's not what this post is supposed to be about . After a couple of dinners and a few lunches , today I turned the remains into chicken noodle soup . And I was told it's one of my better batches . The weather is perfect for soup and chili (which she made for me a couple of days ago) tonight there's a freeze warning and tomorrow night is supposed to be even colder . Wouldn't surprise me to see snow on the ground come morning , it's drizzling rain right now . Sure am glad I got new A/T* tires on the SUV this morning ! Time to put the tire chains back in just in case . Â* * Kenda Klever LT265/75-16's , same as last time . -- Snag Yes , I'm old and crochety - and armed . Get outta my woods ! |

My fan kept me ok. This morning windy and low of 48f. Looking at the next week's predictions I think I'm now beyond the AC weather. Whew! |

Halloween eve was cool (40ºs) and drizzly with high winds, not even one Trick or Treater so I polished off the small bag of mini Kit Kats by 9 PM. And then the wind picked up considerably so that we lost cable TV, came back on at 2:45 AM Even in dreary light my 2nd gingko was dazzling in its full fall foliage: https://postimg.cc/jn4qdW06 First one a week earlier: https://postimg.cc/jC191xpC Gingkos lose all their leaves pretty much within 24 hours... the two trees turn a week apart. Two weeks ago the County installed a new culvert under the road, the ancient steel one had rusted away: https://postimg.cc/fkZTLh5H In the process their excavator knocked over our utility pole so no electric, phone, or cable... it was old and needed replacement anyway so within six hours a new bigger and better one was installed... and for free. Since it was our pole on our property and owned by us we'd have needed to pay for a new one, around $2,000... for free was a nice gift. Electric was hooked up right away, phone and cable the next day. The new pole was installed in a better spot, closer to the road: https://postimg.cc/0zLZGnBN A very busy couple of days with heavy equipment and work crews coming and going and the road was closed to thru traffic. |

Plus 2 C here this morning, about 35F. It was extremely windy and raining last night. I was expecting only 3 kids so I had bought 6 chocolate bars, two KitKat, two Coffee Crisp and two Oreo Cookie bars. The three neighbour kids that came last year did not show up, but Farmer John's son came by with his four kids. I was glad to see them take the Oreo Bars. I did not want to be stuck with them but I guess I was right about their appeal to kids. |

I enjoy all pics from people that I talk to here. Doesn't always have to be food ones. Around the home ones take it a bit more personal and are nice. I see now that you have very close neighbors. I've always had the impression that you had none in close sight. One question for you about the ones across the street. Isn't that a Christmas Manger scene they have out front? If so, is that up way early already or is it a permanent decoration? The housing looks pretty solid. If it's a permanent decoration, I would keep my doors locked at night. ![]() |

The neighbor acrosss the road lives in a house about 500' back from the road, that's an out building you see that was originally for a horse and carriage, then a one car garage, and now expanded to be a gardening shed, but from the prior owner, the people there now don't do gardening >One question for you about the ones across the street. >Isn't that a Christmas Manger scene they have out front? >If so, is that up way early already or is it a >permanent decoration? Some people here lock their doors and some don't, I really don't know who locks their doors. |
