Somewhere in a closet in this house I have a photo of my grandmother and
my mother sitting on burros wearing sombreros on a trip to Tijuana.
Doing touristy things. I guess Mom needed a break so when her parents
came to visit they arranged for my brothers and I to be cared for by
grandpa and some neighbors and and took off on a weekend trip. (Dad was
stationed overseas.)

I have to say, I never thought I'd see a picture of my Scottish
grandmother wearing a sombrero.
