Default So, who here besides me makes Christmas Candy?

And what kinds to you make?

So far, I've made English Toffee, Chocolate Truffles and Coconuts, with a smattering left to cover! Planning on Caramel Pecan Things, Raspberry Caramels, Mints, a second batch of Truffles and of course Chocolate Covered Cherries!

And I have to make two batches of Fondant for the Mints!! Easy peasy! Just a lot of work working the sugar syrup into a Fondant! :-)

We went to my dad's house yesterday. My step-mom said it was the first day of Advent so she had baked some things. The Swedes seem to be really into the Christmas scene.

I don't know, but I wouldn't generalise based on one person.

Yes, after we ate the goodies, my granddaughter and her went into the kitchen and they made gingerbread cookies. It was nice, not weird at all.

I think that what dsi1 was saying, is typical of someone following their

I really dont want to put on any more weight than I usually do, so I steer
clear of making too many sweet things.

I used to make Toffee, along with old-fashioned chocolate fudge (NOT the marshmallow kind). But
I am unable to be on my feet long enough to do either anymore because of my back pain. ;-((

I do, but not as much as I used to. I always make divinity, and also fudge.
I don't bother with much more these days. Fortunately my kids and grandkids
like to make Christmas Candy and Christmas Cookies so I benefit from that.

When yoose gets the cannabis nurse license, be sure to carry lots of
matches, lighters, rolling papers, and pipe screens for yoose patients.

And watch out for them popping seeds, they are hot and could put yoose
eye out. Wear safety glasses or carry an eye patch.

I do pediatric home care nursing. I doubt any children would be smoking cannabis. Usually in children especially the OIL of cannabis is ingested.

I make it sometimes. I used to do filled/painted chocolates but my molds got
old and brittle so no more of those. Have also done chocolate covered
cherries, fudge, caramels, toffee, haystacks, nut clusters, mints (fondant)
and something called Mexican orange candy. I doubt it's really Mexican and I
no longer have the recipe.

With so many friends and family members with diabetes, I make very little
candy any more. I may make one or two things this year. Not sure.

That, and I'm not fond enough of sweets to bother. I'll buy a half pound
of milk chocolate covered caramels for my husband (and probably snitch
one or two).

I'll BET for your chocolate covered cherries you used those Maraschino ABOMINATIONS!! That are ONLY called "cherries" because at one time THEY USED TO BE!!

I use REAL Bing Cherries, fresh from Chile usually! I pit them each, then soak them overnight in "Majic Juice" (yes wine proof liquor IS involved!), them wrap each cherry in a liquifying candy coating, then dip in REAL DARK CHOCOLATE!!

How much petroleum was used to get those cherries from Chile
to St. Louis?

With pricey chocolate I think people only think it's better due to the
high cost, it's all psychological... didya know that Bartons makes the
same vodka for the top shelf labels as for Crystal Palace... only the
packaging and pricing is different.
