Default Thanksgiving Dinner

We are doing it tonight. My son, his girlfriend and my brother are
coming. Everything appears to be under control. I dressed the turkey
and stuck it in the oven about an hour and a half ago. It should be
ready to take out at 5:30. Potatoes are peeled and cut and the beans
trimmed and all are sitting in cold water. I halved a couple butternut
squashes and sprinkled them with brown sugar cinnamon and ground ginger.
They are ready to go into the oven.

Last night I baked a pumpkin pie. There was a little extra dough and
filling so I made a couple tarts and had one of them for dessert last
night. It was delicious.

Now I get to take the dogs for a walk while my wife mops the floor,
makes a salad and makes up a fruit platter.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Sounds delicious and enjoy your get together.

I'm guessing there will turkey sandwiches, turkey hash, and turkey
soup in your future.

<snork> He'd have needed an extra turkey.

A second turkey, 10 pounds more potatoes, two more bottles of wine and
two more pies.

My rule of thumb for my wife's family gatherings here was that if she
came we had to have twice as much food.

Haha.... no way. I would have had to get a second turkey.... and I
don't think I am exaggerating. I had to see her last week at her
brother's wedding. I did speak to her briefly. Maybe I am in her bad
books because when she tried to invite herself down for supper (and
possible overnight) she was turned down.

I forgot you guys are doing that. This weekends we are thankful that
Columbus sailed far enough to get us a holiday on Monday.

I am going to my younger daughters tomorrow. I don't do these big
meals anymore, it's very nice. Think she will be traditional and do
turkey, I'm not overly fond of that, but since I don't have to cook
it...lol

It's just so much easier on everybody, no matter their age, if everybody
can bring a dish or two. Nice variety, nobody is worked to death cooking,
and nobody is in the poor house when the meal is finished.

Crummy "redskins" keep hangin' on, jes like "Whitey".

"Pow-Wows", Indian gamblin' joints, "credit bureaus", etc. You'd think
they were jes like "white ppl", what with all their shenanigans. Stupid
"redskins" ....copy'in' white ppl, an all.

I offered but she said no - I will take wine though, that's always
appreciated

Thanks. Everything turned out nicely, though the stuffing could have had
a little more flavour. My brother, who usually isn't fond of pumpkin
pie, raved about it. I have to say it is the best I ever made.

The squash must have been too good. I cooked two small ones and there is
only about one cup left over. I have been planning to use the leftovers
for soup.

Who mops the floor on Thanksgiving Day in the middle of cooking? Is
that a Canadian custom or do you make your toy wife do that?

The MYTH of a Thanksgiving Dinner turns out to be more sinister than I'd ever imagined!

Turns out: a Thanksgiving Feast was "celebrated" after a colonizing tribe SLAUGHTERED everyone in a town the brutally TOOK OVER, then they RAIDED all the slaughtered people homes and STOLE ALL THEIR FOOD and ATE IT!! :-(

:-(

It sounds a lot like the Anasazi who ate their enemies.
