I honestly can't ever remember being lonely, fortunately.

I came from a big family, married out of high school, worked outside the
home, raised kids, then with grandkids and dh retired etc., I do treasure
the alone time too, so no loneliness ever.

There are times when I suffer a pang and wish David were here, even 23
years later

Many people go nuts having to spend even one night alone. Not me.
I've always enjoyed my own company and never feel lonely. It's
rare that I let someone into my life as a close friend. I've
never liked doing things with "the gang." Just alone or one close
mate for me.

Ferret or two is the exception. The one creature that's always
welcome here.

Yes, sort of the same here (minus ferrets) We have a few close friends from
childhood that we do things with like coffee at McDonald's :-) never gangs
of people, and many acquaintances that we don't see terribly often but do
enjoy when we see them, so it works out great for us.

I don't go to McDonald's for coffee, and...we did enough heavy partying when
we were young to last us. LOL

I am quite happy spending time on my own. I have a good friend who likes
going out for motorcycle rides with me. He never goes out on my own. I
love going out on the bike on my own. Frankly, most times I would rather
be out on my own. I also enjoy being on when my wife goes away for a
few days to visit her sister or to attend conferences.
