Now you can eat meat without animal cruelty. I'd try it if the
ingredient list is reasonable:

New product...I suspect they will keep the ingredient list secret
as much as possible. Sounds interesting though, I'll try it if it
ever shows up here. Most likely my local healthfood store
someday. It's a very cool place and only 1/4 mile from where I
live.

I noticed the word flexatarian...lol.

"Food blogs were aflutter this year over "flexitarian," the
latest word in gastronomic circles. The Macmillan English
Dictionary Web site (it hasn't made it into the Oxford English
Dictionary) defines a flexitarian as "a person who consumes
mainly vegetarian food, but occasionally eats meat or fish."

Well, that's me to a degree. I'm more half and half meals here
lately. No special reason, just what sounds good at the time.

I also read this and laughed at the term, "freegan." Is that the
new correct term for a bum? LOL!

"In case flexitarianism doesn't suit you, links on Macmillan's
"flexitarian" Web page offer any number of other possibilities:
vegan, fruitarian, pescetarian, rawist and even freegan (someone
who eats food that has been thrown away)."

Both quotes came from this site:

Occasionally my wife eats vegetarian burgers. She mostly brings them
to school for lunch while frozen and heats them in the microwave. She
says it eats like a burger, looks like a burger, but the smell is way
off. I tasted one but didn't really think it was like a beef burger.
My wife isn't vegetarian but she doesn't like to use the school fridge
as people are always rummaging through other's food. The veggie
burger needs no refrigeration when brought to school frozen. There's
a few in the freezer now but the box is gone and I can't remember the
brand or list the ingredients... each is individually sealed in
plastic. I remember that the major ingredient is beans.

That's it. I'm seriously considering becoming a vegan freegan. It's
good for animals, good for the environment and cheap!

Sorry but plant-based *steak* is fiction. You can't make a plant taste
like steak... at least not without a ton of chemicals. And we all know
how Bruce feels about ingredients lists!

I've tried Boca Burgers. They don't taste bad but they are not anything
like a good beef (or even a well seasoned turkey) burger. Doesn't this
sound tasty? Boca Burgers:

NGREDIENTS: WATER, SOY PROTEIN CONCENTRATE, WHEAT GLUTEN, CONTAINS LESS
THAN 2% OF METHYLCELLULOSE, SALT, CARAMEL COLOR, DRIED ONIONS, YEAST
EXTRACT, SESAME OIL, HYDROLYZED WHEAT PROTEIN, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL
FLAVOR (NON-MEAT), DISODIUM GUANYLATE, DISODIUM INOSINATE.

Maybe it's possible, maybe not. There's gluten based faux chicken,
duck and pork, by an Asian company. It tastes meaty, savoury and
crunchy. Exactly like meat? No, but I like it.

I agree that that's a terrible list.

Always the same question. I love meat, but I also love animals. So
plant based meat that tastes like real meat -if it really does and
with decent ingredients- would be great for me.

This is not really hard to understand, is it?

I can pretty much GUARANTEE it neither looks NOR TASTES like real meat
of ANY kind I've ever tasted.

Maybe at least be open minded enough to give it a try once it
becomes available. You are condemming it untasted. Old ppl@

Didn't we already have this discussion? Ok, that was vegetarian bacon
last August, but I can't imagine the discussion will be any different.

It won't be any different. He really needs to stop pushing his agenda.
It's not going to change the way anyone eats.

Just so happens my dinner tonight will be kinda-sorta vegetarian.
That's if you define the label as someone who eats eggs & cheese. (They
have so many friggin labels for who will eat what it's hard to keep up.)
I'm making spinach quiche. It contains spinach, eggs, milk and
cheese. But oh, the spinach was probably cruelly harvested...

When you post about a meat dish, are you pushing your agenda? You're
so narrow-minded...

If you claim to be Vegan for morality reasons,
it makes NO sense to eliminate milk products and eggs,
as those are similar to fruits and vegetables,
where you eat the 'seeds' of the plant, which are renewable.

Vegetarian: doesn't eat anything that kills an animal
Vegan: doesn't eat anything that inconveniences an animal

Which brings up a question: If chickens were wild, what would happen
to their almost daily, unfertilized eggs? Would they just kick them
to the side? Or would roosters make sure that they were fertilized
every day, keeping the hens in a constant state of childbirth?

And what would happen to a cow, that for whatever reason, had no
calves to milk her swollen mammary glands? (and doesn't live in
Greenville, New York)?

The chicken are not inconvenienced laying an egg every day,
fertilized or not. And the cow would probably feel much better if
she were milked.

ALL those prove is you value SOME life
as more important than OTHER life.

Humans HAVE to eat organic products, whether it's plant OR animal, it
HAS to be organic, meaning it was ALIVE before you took it for food.

Yesterday I had vegetarian lunch: lentil soup with cauliflower, and a little
cheese on the side

And pescatarian dinner: tossed salad dressed with lime vinaigrette and
shrimp cocktail

I'll probably be eating a pescatarian dinner tonight (5/17). Pan seared
or baked (haven't decided yet) sea scallops with some sort of vegetable
side (lots to choose from).

Yes, I torture the milk and eggs along with the crumbled feta cheese.
They all deserve to be beaten. LOL I use a hand-held wire whisk in a
stainless steel bowl. That makes me especially cruel...whisking. 8-)
