They were riding in it during a recent rainstorm and were rear-ended by a Honda CRV. My son got out and asked the driver if he was alright and the guy told him to pull over to the side. They did but he didn't. He cut over through 2 lanes and went the opposite direction. That sucked but I suppose that's a lot better than getting incinerated in a white hot electrochemical explosion. A WHAT?? Do you KNOW much about electricity, batteries and electric vehicles? I DO! TONS!!! What you show concern with when you say "but I suppose that's a lot better than getting incinerated in a white hot electrochemical explosion"! What chemicals in a Leaf are likely to explode? Do you KNOW what chemicals are in a Leaf? I DO John Kuthe... |

My guess is that, in a few years, we'll be using solid state batteries. At least that's the direction researchers are scrambling for. This probably does not bode well for Musk/Tesla and his Gigafactory. https://futurism.com/massachusetts-s...ttery-company/ |

Lithium melts at 357F and nothing IN a Leaf burns at that temp!! And if something DID melt the lithium, so what? The FIRE would be more of a problem than the melted lithium! Moran! John Kuthe... |

You must be smoking too much of that happy weed. Repent before it's too late! When people say "solid state" batteries, they mean that it doesn't use a liquid electrolyte to facilitate ionic movement in the cell. You know how there are two kind of capacitors? Solid state capacitors and electrolytic capacitors? Same thing. The only difference is that most lithium batteries use a liquid electrolyte. "Do you KNOW what chemicals are in a Leaf? I DO" Here's the part where you get to answer your own question and prove your education didn't go up completely in smoke. Namaste! |

Does that mean I'm a genius too? Software is candy, it must rin on hardware to get anything done. Ever hear of the book Programming Pearls? Required reading for one of my Computer Engineering classes. We had no classes in programming languages but as we went through the Computer Engineering program at WashU 1989 to 1995 we learned to expect in certain classes we'd be programming in certain specific languages. Pascal, C, LISP, ADA, PROLOG, etc. Assembler too! Nothing in BASIC that I remember. John Kuthe... |

Every BIT SOLID STATE! There's that 1960's college "electrical engineering degree" showing it's age. Batteries are not considered solid state, only semiconductors when compared to vacuum tubes. Lithium (and all batteries for the last 2,300 years) batteries are electromechanical. They rely on chemical reactions to store energy and convert it to electricity. Atoms and other shit is moving in those batteries, you just can't see it. Even I know that and I don't have a useless electrical engineering degree. This is the first time dsi1 actually got something right. but then he follows it up with this "I guess... " bullshit, as usual. ObFood: According to nutritional information, there's less than half a spear of asparagus in a can of Campbell's Cream of Asparagus Soup, yet it costs twice as much as Cream of Celery Soup. this means they're paying $28/pound for asparagus. Or that they're just greedy assholes preying on gullible consumers. -sw |

You forgot the one where you pretend to be a engineer/scientist/guru/jokester and then try to bluff your way through life. I love games but only if it involves the knowledge and consent of the players. Don't involve me in your games and we'll get along just fine. |
