It is basically a brioche type dough in which pieces of crushed sugar cubes are incorporated. On baking, they dissolve leaving little holes throughout the bread. I got the recipe from a book on Dutch baking that my ex gave me (her husband is Dutch). The book describes butter letters but doesn't give a recipe. I have some crushed maple sugar in the cupboard and have thought of making a Canadian version. Graham |

I have pointed out to my son that the pill and he came out in 1962 and that might be why he did not have younger siblings. There's a certain irony in calling them Sheikh - that makes me think of the fact that many Arabs who had to cross deserts did not want their camels pregnant and they knew that a small, round pebble inserted in the vagina would prevent pregnancy. That led to todays 'vaginal implant' as a contraceptive. Everything old is new again. |

I also hate "I seen it." An old friend and her son were visiting us a few years ago. They had moved to Texas almost 40 years earlier. The son was saying something that should have used the plural of "your"..... your. I came out as yourall's. |
