Default An unusual question? Exhaust hood/fume cleaning?

OK, this is a situation/issue I've never seen addressed by any one! Who
or what sort of company does one contact to 'clean' the exhaust vent
(over the stove) to remove the years' of accumulation of grease, etc.?
A chimney sweep? How/who do restaurants call when this regular
maintenance is tasked ? I'm quite curious :->

you don't let years of grease accumulate if the health department
inspects your restaurant. I would apply degreaser liberally following
up with purple cleaner and a pressure washer on the exhaust and floor
below.

no, but you search for "restaurant hood cleaning" to find a service company
to do the dirty work every 6 months.

Not just a pressure washer but a real "steam pressure washer", the real thing. Not just hot water under pressure but steam under pressure.

Years ago when I worked in the donut shop we bought another formerly Dunkin Donuts and things were filthly, so my boss rented a steam pressure washer to clean up a lot of the equipment. Dangerously effective!! :-) Industrial strength!!

I don't know what your setup is like, but we'd just replace the duct.
It runs up through the kitchen ceiling in a straight shot through
the attic and the roof.

Of course, since we installed it with our own four hands, it'd be
a snap to re-do it for the cost of the materials.

Ask at your favorite eatery, and check the yellow pages. Central air
conditioning installation companys clean ductwork.

Sounds practical. No idea what the cost of a cleaning service would
be, but I bet it would pay for a large chunk of simply replacing it.
