Generally good for a week or more on the counter, four or more in the fridge. I've had a couple of pieces go bad only a few days from picking and shipped to me from Florida. I kave no idea how old the typical market stuff is but fresh is better. . |

But whenever I buy citrus I wash them well and store them in my fridge... Vitamin C dissipates rapidly at room temperature... hanging citrus up high by ones ceiling where it's warmest is the worst of all possible choices. |

How does Sheldon know where the warmest point in notbob's kitchen is? I do have to wonder, though, why nb wants a hanging basket (regardless of metal) for hanging oranges. Something asthetic? Jill |

He can't know the exact warmest point, but since hot air rises, the ceiling is generally warmer than the floor. Or the countertop. Cindy Hamilton |

Even cut citrus, such as lemons/limes should not be stored in plastic bags in the fridge, the cut surface will dry and seal itself. It's best to buy no more citrus than one can consume within a week... those bulk bags on sale are no bargain if some need to be thrown away. |
