I wasn't going to get any more cookbooks but I saw this one and got it
basically for my husband. He enjoys watching the show just because he
likes to see what is going on with her husband and kids and the
ranching and equipment. I just got the book in the mail today and he
is sitting on the sofa, laughing and asking me if I saw this or that.
So I guess it was a good buy. I haven't seen the book yet, just the
preview on TV where I could see that there were lots of pictures of
the ranch and stories about the goings-on. Good Job Janet!

I also like the goings on at the ranch, she seems like she has a really nice
family and they seem to enjoy each other. I have her Year of Holidays
Cookbook and I enjoy the stories of the holidays and ranch life and the
pictures in that book too.

Her recipes are fine, but I can't stand to watch her because of her annoying voice.

lsca, +1000! on the annoying voice.

I cannot watch or listen to her at all. The prissy know-it-all voice along
with the constant grin just make me wanna puke. Sorry to her fans. And
she probably cannot help it. But {{{{shudder}}}}.....

I have to mute the new Walmart commercials.

Anyone would have to. They're on every 5 minutes on every channel.
Arrrrgh. I don't really watch anymore, but my husband does. He loves
all the equipment and how the kids are learning to handle it all. He's
a former part-time farm boy. (spent summers with gramma and loved it)

No. Her recipes are not "fine." She's a piece of trash. Even worse is whoever came up with this pooch-****er of a "recipe."

http://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/c...salad-dressing

Someone posted it to a FB group, and I replied:

----------------------------------------
The way that I see it, the point of taking the time to mix up one's own salad
dressing is that you can use really good ingredients like fresh egg yolks, and
fresh squeezed lemon juice, and higher quality oil. Note that nearly every
bottled salad dressing uses the cheapest, crappiest ingredients, such as
soybean oil. The above "recipe" is a slopping together of the worst of the
worst--"reduced-fat sour cream", repulsive "fat-free mayonnaise", joyless
"fat-free milk" and sugar. Sugar?

http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/186402

A 17-year-old contaminates a salad dressing with his semen. He then
returned the salad dressing to a suburban Chicago high school's cafeteria.
Dupage County Judge Terence Sheen ordered Marco Castro to pay a fine of
$750 and he has to perform 120 hours of community service at an agency
that works with AIDS patients. He also was put on two years probation
and had to write a letter apologizing to Wheaton North High School
officials.
Sheen called the prank "beyond stupid." "If you prove to me you're
worthy of another chance, in two years, then I will give it to you,"
Sheen said.
Castro did plead guilty to a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge with
the incident that took place Dec.6. He admitted he took a bottle of
ranch dressing from the school's cafeteria where juniors and seniors eat
their lunch. He went into the bathroom and ejaculated into the bottle
than took it back to the cafeteria.
He was reported by other students and he was expelled from Wheaton North
High School
No one reported becoming ill after the incident took place.
Castro told the police he thought of doing it after he had watched a
movie that was filled with crude stunts.

Hey, don't pair Guy with RRay! I happen to like Guy; I get the impression he
pretty much knows people diss him, but he just keeps going and going....much
easier for me to take than smart-ass Alton, or new FTV host Alfonso Rubeiro
(also with a know-it-all attitude). Each to his/her own. (I like Ina, too.)

Giada has grown on me to the point that I don't dislike her as much.
In fact, I've made her Roman Chicken many times. I like Rachael, but
I'm not a cook in a hurry - so although I'd eat a meal she prepared,
her recipes don't interest (or should I say inspire) me at all.

Love Ina too, she's the Martha Stewart type where you know all of her
recipes have been tested to the Nth degree and are fool proof. To be
honest, I don't view her style as being too heavy on the carbs and
fat. It's not diet food, but it's not Ranch Hand heavy either.

I like Guy too, but hate the shows they make him do now. I want to
see him back in the kitchen cooking. Totally agree with you about
Alton. His know it all attitude makes my skin crawl. Guess I don't
watch FTV (whatever that is), because I'm not sure who Alfonso Ruberio
is... oh, wait. I Googled.

Ribeiro played Alfonso Spears on the sitcom Silver Spoons, and Carlton
Banks on the NBC sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

Sounds like either he took on his character's persona or maybe the
character's persona was very close to his own.

SF, Alfonso has become noticeable because he was lately on Dancing with the
Stars (he won his season) and then was named host of a new "Unwrapped 2.0"....I
didn't like Marc Summers, either, on "Unwrapped." That is just a show I never watch.
FTV is Food TV or Food Network.
Marc is a producer on Food Network.
And I think the network has given Alton Brown the keys and told him he can do what
he wants. There is no other explanation for "Cutthroat Kitchen."
Guy still has a half hour cooking show, "Big Bites."

I love the (silly) part in her "30 Minute Meal" shows where she first
gathers all the ingredients. She goes to the fridge and loads up her
arms, then walks over to the pantry and loads up more even though she
walks right by the counter. It's silly trying to gather all
ingredients in one trip.

They should make a sex move. It'd certainly be more entertaining, and probably
more informative than anything they show on the stupid Food Network.

Has he finally decided what his last name is?

I've read plenty of rumors about Giada, no idea if they're
true, but Bobby is famous for philandering.

I don't know about the new show he's 'hosting' but his old
show "Good Eats" was for the most part filmed in Georgia.
Giada's show is filmed in California.

Granted, I don't catch every holiday show that F.N.
produces but I've only seen her on one of the holiday
shows. She wasn't given much to do like the other
'chefs.'

She probably wishes someone would pay attention to her
after her divorce decree and all the alimony she's
going to be paying to her ex. The judge stuck it to
her big time.

Sure it is. I like her very much, but it's every bit as ranch hand heavy.

The Bobby-Giada relationship was obvious in the Thanksgiving show
that's been repeated at least once. Now I wonder if they'll trot it
out again this year or if they've made a one?

Maybe she had fling with Alton at one point because his marriage ended
in divorce last year too.

I thought I read sometime in the last year that RRay was divorcing, but
this week on Celebrity Worst Cooks, she said something about her
husband.

Mix-max, doesn't matter to me at all what is what.

Big Bites came at least one year, maybe a couple of years, before
DD&D.

When she's thinner, she has a pretty face, but the only thing I've ever found
appealing about her show is when she had a sky blue, old fashioned fridge--light
blue is my favorite color. I don't have TV, so the only time I see FN is when
I'm in a waiting room of a car repair place or a doctor's office. I was at the
eye doctor today, and they had FN on their TV, and some clown was making a
meatloaf that looked icky.

"The Pioneer Woman Cooks Dinnertime." I got to sit down with it
yesterday. Every recipe is step-by-step with a photo of 'how to.' I
liked all the photos of the ranch, kids, etc. If your mom watches the
show she might enjoy getting this book. I would and my husband
certainly enjoyed it.
