Default What I don't understand. . .

Is the price of eggs. How come chickens are so cheap and eggs cost so
much? For example: Within recent weeks I have stocked up on chicken
thighs ($.79/lb), chicken wings ($.89/lb), boneless, skinless chicken
breasts ($1.38/lb.) whole chickens ($.89/lb) Yet I used to be able to
get 2 dozen extra large eggs for about $2.00/2 dozen and now it is
around $4.00/ 1.5 dozen for large eggs. I know Layers aren't the same
production method or result, but it seems to me that the cost of care
and feeding should be about the same. I don't get it. Explain,
please.
