Default Use up the Assessment!

Got this email from Dataw, use up the Club Dining assessment with these
deals on 12/31:

http://i59.tinypic.com/34oy8hh.gif

Sorry, I don't feel like typing out all out and it won't let me copy/paste.

I wouldn't use the drink tokens because they're only good for cocktails,
not my cuppa.

$24 for a pie? Nope.

The steaks, maybe. A couple of quarts of soup, maybe. Their signature
dish is a crab bisque which is *very* good. I seem to remember an
artichoke soup from a couple of years ago that was quite tasty, too.
But no, I wouldn't pay $22 for a quart of chicken noodle.

What the heck. I've got to spend the money anyway, might as well pick
up a few things.

Can you barter the drink tokens (or anything else) with other members?

You might donate the high priced food to a charitable organization.

You should ask the club what their profit margin is, and see it you can cut
a deal where you take a bit less cash but they keep their profit margin. (a
total rip off, but they will decline anyway).

The fact that they have sent this message tells me LOTS of residents still have a lot of spending to do. Thou are not alone. Aagh.

$24 for an apple pie???? There is bakery around the corner that has
incredible pies that sell for almost half that. The steaks look to be
the least of the rip-offs.

They do think rather highly of them, don't they? I've never tasted
any of their desserts but I'm fairly confident a pie from the
supermarket bakery would taste just as good. Probably a Mrs. Smith's
frozen pie would, too. There are probably some pie lovers who will buy
them. I've got my eye on the steaks and a couple of quarts of soup.

Local bakery has very good pir for $25, so it is probably in line with
restaurant markup. Doubt I'd pay it though.

I'd do that.

Since you have to pay regardless of buying the food or not, I say go
for anything that sounds good. The steaks for $15/lb sounds like the
best deal. Since this comes from a restaurant, they should be high
graded steaks.

I would suggest you go early (like 10am) so you can get your choice.
Go later and your favorites might already be sold out.

Yes, I plan to be there at 10am.
