I had my Franciscan Floral Sculpture dishes for a very long time,
and they were showing their age, plus I wanted a different look
at this point. I didn't need the whole cup/saucer/soup bowl thing
that is included in sets, so I bought a bunch of Crate and Barrel
Everyday Essentials, plain white dinner and lunch plates. You can
find similar stuff cheaper at Ikea.

I love the white plates.

Ha! I was just looking at glasses from Crate & Barrel.

DD bought white dinnerware from Macy's last year and I gave my DIL

Oooo, sharp. Very stylish.

I'm surprised myself when I look around, how much of my stuff
comes from C&B. Including my glassware.

Oh my goodness, even the bowl and spoon holding my wonton
soup right now.

I have white stoneware that I bought at Big Lots for $5 for a set of
service for 4. I have two sets. I figured it would last for a year or
two, but I've had it 8 years.

It was probably a decent value if you found it at Big Lots. I love
that place but ours is an awful mess, so I only shop at Big Lots when
I'm elsewhere.

My DIL's dinnerware has made it though an entire year with only one
chip which I think is pretty darned good, considering they have two
kids and no dishwasher.

Yeah. Toast isn't all that exciting to me. Maybe it is to you.

I cruise thru my BL often, and find lurking among the foodstuffs such gems as Back to Nature Honey Grahams, and some decent low sodium chicken stock - I like to stash a box against the day when I run low on my own. Invariably, tho, I'll go back the next day or so, and some other shopper has wiped out the rest of the supply of whatever the gem du jour was.
