Those are the perfect items to donate to animal shelters. They are
always in need of anything for bedding. Maybe no the pillows, though.

Actually I have looked. The one in Woodinville has moved. Purrfect Pals is
in Arlington. There are all sorts of places around here to get shelter
cats. But the shelters themselves are not near here. All of our cats are
shelter cats.

I know where they are. Quite a trek from us. At any rate, we have no
bedding to get rid of so it's a moot point. And the last things that we did
get rid of were memory foam mattress toppers. I highly doubt that they'd
want those. Our cats act like they are hot lava.

I knew there would be animal shelters, every community has at least
one... and they will keep a list of private citizens who care for
strays and ferals that can always use donated supplies.

Thanks for mentioning that Cheryl, every animal shelter is different,
but most of them can use you old wash cloths, hand towels, bath towels.
We replace our kitchen towels fairly often, and we are happy to donate
our old ones to the local animal shelter.

What is 'near' to you, exactly?
Probably at the end of your driveway, which is about as far as you're
willing to walk, no doubt.

Even the area where I live has an animal shelter. And they added an
extension just for cats a couple of years ago. They call it the Tabby
House. They accept all sorts of things like blankets, sheets, towels
for bedding (as long as it has been washed).

And yes, there are organizations around here (one is on Dataw) that care
for strays that wind up at feral feeding stations. The ferals are taken
care of but not all are suitable to be "homed". They're taken care of.
All of this is funded by donations.

I didn't have to walk far to donate a couple of old but working vacuum
cleaners to the the 'Tabby House', which is an extension of the Beaufort
County Animal Shelter. (Strictly for cats. The name is a play on words
- Tabby Cat - or tabby construction using oyster shells in the
lowcountry of South Carolina.) I contacted the person in charge and
they picked up the vacuum cleaners. I'm sure they would have also
accepted blankets or towels if I'd had any to donate.

Okay. But the shelters here are all not only in other cities but parts of
those cities that I have no reason to go. AFAIK I have never thrown out any
blankets. I have given some to Value Village. For some reason, people seem
to like to buy me blankets and I wind up with far too many. The quilt that
I got rid of was in very poor shape and I doubt that even an animal shelter
would have wanted it. Pretty sure that they wouldn't want the decrepit,
shredded towels either. They were akin to rags. Or the memory foam
mattress toppers.

I have been to the shelters when Bali went missing. One is PAWS which was
mentioned. It is in a part of Lynnwood where I have no other reason to go.
Quite a drive from my house. The other was out in a remote area near
Marysville. And another in Arlington. I'm not even sure that they would
want old bedding as they have women who make little blankets for every pet.
And when you adopt a pet, you get a new blanket to take home with you.

I'll chip in for a pillow.
Or two, if need be.

I have no dog/cat shelters nearby, but I live in the bush so that's to
be expected. The nearest ones are about 90 minutes away. We do have a
good network of people who care for injured or orphaned wildlife
though.
