Default First try at Mexican green sauce

Tough to find the right ingredients, so ended up basically mixing canned
goods. My wife cooked - I am just describing.

2 cans of tomatillos - they come in salted water.

2 cans of diced chili peppers, also already in salted water.

1 fresh poblano pepper (my idea).

Most of a bunch of cilantro, some garlic

Put the whole mess into a blender, and that's it - no need for
additional salt.

Tasted _great_, served it as a dressing for roasted chicken over rice,
topped with grated cheese, sort of an enchilada verde but loose over
rice instead of wrapped in a corn tortilla.

I even put some on top of week-old leftover lasagna that I had - it's
yummy stuff. (I am the kitchen garbage can and almost always eat
whatever is the oldest leftover.)

Sounds like yer basic salsa verde (green). If yer gonna use canned
goods, you can find it ready-made in a can easier than canned
tomatillos.

Well, I did look for that, but they didn't have it. I figured that
would be a good first step, just to see what we liked to do w/ someone
else's.

Your link above is the recipe that was up on our computer screen while
we "created" ours.

Boy, that's playing fast and loose with the word, "created." By that
standard I could say that a few minutes ago, I "created" a fart.

He quoted it. Means irony. You're a writer, I'd think you'd know that.
I guess you're just a "writer"!

If you want to turn your green sauce into a chip dip or taco/burrito
salsa, add avocado and whiz it up in there too.

Why would you *ever* "really, really have to use" canned tomatillos? I get
along just fine without ever having to slop together canned tomatillos and
canned chilies. I hope for Mr. Freides sake that his wife is a tiger in
the bedroom because she's obviously a dog in the kitchen.

And some of you prefer the pretty little lies. I'm just wondering if Larry
was identifying with Steve or with Steve's wife.

You know, there's no shame. I married someone who wasn't much of a cook
either, but I guess the difference might be that she knew it.

I made fish tacos for dinner. It was My "first try" at that. Little
chunks of tilapia, seasoned with cayenne and dredged in corn meal, then
fried in a mix of bacon grease and sunflower oil. Slightly browned corn
tortillas, shredded lettuce, cheddar cheese, chopped grape tomatoes, and
salsa purchased this afternoon from a taqueria--
https://www.facebook.com/TaqueriaDur...tLouis?sk=wall
--not concocted in the kitchen from canned tomatillos and canned chilies.
I bought one 8 oz. cup each of the red and the green for $1.50 each.

What's funny is that when someone killfiles a person for offending him or
her, they have just unilaterally disarmed. Andy KF'd me, so I've been
plonked by worse than you, but probably by better as well. The better
folks are wise enough not to make some drama queen announcement.

For what? However "bonkers" you think that I am, it's not like I own
weapons, and you're being disingenous because my posts have not gotten more
extreme, and you know that. You're just trying to make yourself look cool
in the it's-fun-to-hate-Bryan world. My only shot at national news is my
novel, and I understand that that is pretty unlikely, but in that case, I
very much hope that you are correct.

I made a few phone calls and found that a big grocery store in the next
town carries them, so we will try to use fresh tomatillos for the next
go-round.
