This just isn't my day.
![]() So, it's pouring down rain but the Food Lion circular said the sale on corned beef ($2.99/lb.) ends today. So I drove over... no corned beef. Give me a break! I know, I should have called first. <sigh> The guy said they only got one case of it. They should have more tomorrow. He asked my name and gave me a rain check (how appropriate given the weather). He said he'll make sure they set a couple aside for me. That's nice. So I get to drive back over there tomorrow, and yes, it will still be raining. ![]() The CB I bought at Publix is in the crock pot. I was going to put the seasonings from the spice packet in one of the tea balls/infusers I bought. I picked the wrong one, the mesh one. Like this: http://tinyurl.com/pkxezvg When I went to close it my hand slipped and the spices spilled all over the counter. Grrrr. I swept them into the palm of my hand and threw them into the pot with the CB. (I should have used the tea ball with the screw-top, dammit. Again, this just isn't my day.) Oh well, I didn't own any tea balls last year so no biggie. I'll add the cabbage wedges to the crock pot a couple of hours before dinner time. ![]() Jill |

I hate days spent being *attacked* by inanimate objects. Some days are just like that, but I bet your CB will be worth it. Cheri |

I do hope I can find the corned beef tomorrow at that $2.99/lb price. I will call ahead this time. He said he'd set a couple aside. I asked for no more than 3.5 pounds each. I don't want or need a larger corned beef. Next time I'll use the *other* tea ball round tea ball for the contents of the spice packet. It's prettier anyway. ![]() Jill |

I did expect to find the corned beef today at that price. I'll check back tomorrow. I had such high hopes for using that tea ball for the spices. Oh well. Stuff happens. The corned beef is fork and the cabbage is just about there. I'll have a very nice dinner this evening. ![]() Jill |

If you wind up with an extra, you can dry it off, give it a good rub with a spice mixture, and smoke-cook it for some tasty "pastrami". Isaac |

Actually, I plan to stash the two extras at that great (unheard of in this area) price in the freezer. There's no reason to only enjoy corned beef & cabbage once a year. ![]() Jill |
