![]() There are lots of recipes on the net if you need one. I make chicken soup and add Southwestern flavors to it. Sometimes I use commercial chili powder, sometimes I use the components: cumin, powdered chile of my choice, oregano... sometimes I don't and I didn't last night. I had some Musgovian chicken legs that I let simmer all day in the slow cooker with the usual onion, carrot and celery + a decent shot (maybe 1T) of Simply Heinz Tomato Ketchup. A couple of hours before serving, I removed the legs , stripped the meat off (put it aside in the refrigerator), returned the bones & skin to the broth and let it continue to perk. That was an unnecessary step - but I didn't want to eat and didn't want to dry the meat out. Sometime between then and serving time I used my cheap, no name, Japanese, fixed blade mandoline to slice up a carrot super thin and used my favorite, expensive, German made, Wüsthof, chef's knife to cut up the 6 remaining green onions in my vegetable bin, white parts + greens. Shortly before serving I used my inexpensive, no name, Chinese/Asian, kitchen spider to lift out all of the solids, turned the slow cooker (which was the least expensive one I could find and happens to be the Crock Pot brand) to high, added in the sliced carrots, green onions, chicken meat and let it perk while I got the bowls ready. To serve, I crumbled as many restaurant style tortilla chips as I wanted into a bowl, added a good dollop of commercial fresh salsa that I buy from the refrigerated section of the grocery store, chopped fresh cilantro leaves to taste and filled the bowl with what is essentially a hearty chicken soup. It was a tasty and filling way to end the day.... I'll call it supper because we'd eaten a larger meal in a Thai restaurant a few hours earlier. http://oi42.tinypic.com/t4wth5.jpg -- Good Food. Becca's version of this is so good that it is one of my favorite meals. I usually make the basic stock and pick the meat off the bones... and Becca transforms that into soup. We make a big batch at once so we can portion and freeze enough for future meals. Wonderfully good stuff. George L |

As you say, there are many ways to get there and all are delicious. Yours looks really good even though we had CTS last week. Janet US |
