No because they're all different. But most kids like black olives, raw baby
carrots, French fries and chicken nuggets.

Black olives? I don't know any children that like black olives.

I like them fine as an ingredient but will not eat them out of hand. I
much prefer the firmer texture and milder taste of green olives.

All of the children that have spent a lot of time in my house (my
children & grandchildren, the children of my best friends) like green
olives because they were introduced to them as babies.

Try giving an olive to a seven year old that has not had one before.
It is likely to be spat out.

My brother and I always did. So does my daughter and her friends. I would
always put them out for snacks. Kids love to play with them.

I do not think for an instant that green olives have a milder texture. I do
like them and some kids will eat them. Angela will not. I like most olives
except for some of the stuffed ones, the really garlicky ones or those oil
cured dried ones.

I gave them to Angela as a toddler. She never liked them. I always did.

I never liked olives as a child and I still don't. It probably has a lot to
do with what you were given to eat as a child and what you grew up used to
eating.

I did not like olives until I was in my 30s. I get my olives from olive
bars and delis, not from jars or cans. It makes a world of difference.

My husband still doesn't like olives. I forgive him though, because
it means more for me. I can buy canned or I can buy the good stuff
and know they will still be there whenever I want to eat them.

JBurns must not know any children because I have yet to come across a
child that doesn't like black olives - from a can, no less.

Could be. Never had them as a kid and still don't like them. I'll
take a Gibson over a Martini any day. My wife grew up with them and
likes all types.

Not my experience. Our kids used to eat eight at a time by sticking
one on each finger. They also taught my nieces and nephews to do
that. Black olives went fast in our house.

My daughter still eats a bunch at a meal, but at 45, she no longer
sticks them on her fingers. Her kids do though.

My kids used to eat spaghetti-o's, bacon, PB&J sandwiches, and
fruit-flavoured yogurt.

No olives.

They're amazingly healthful if one doesn't have salt sensitive blood pressure.

I never saw a kid yet that didn't like mac & cheese, grilled cheese
sandwiches, spaghetti, pizza, hamburgers (more so than hotdogs, but
they'd eat those too) and fried chicken drumsticks.

Our kids and grandkids loved putting the black olives on their fingers
rather than in their mouth...they much preferred pickles. Our 4 yo Great
Granddaughter can't get enough dill pickle slices.

Anyway, this comes from experience from raising four children, and
having grandchildren and a great grandchild.

I don't remember having grilled cheese when I was a kid. Only as an adult.
I didn't much like spaghetti but only because I only ever had it at home and
my mom made horrible spaghetti. Did not like pizza at all but only because
my parents always got sausage and black olive. And although I love olives,
I have discovered that I do not generally like them cooking in/on things.
And while I ate drumsticks as a toddler, perhaps because I was never offered
any other part of the chicken, I refused to eat them beyond that. Would
only eat the white meat.

I remember the day that my daughter found out that the "stick" in her
drumstick was in fact a bone and not a stick. She has never eaten them
again or anything else with a bone for that matter. And I am the same. The
bone serves to remind us that we are eating a dead animal. Yes, I know that
a hamburger patty or meatloaf is still a dead animal but somehow it just
doesn't seem the same.

I usually debone chicken and things before eating. I do not like to eat a
drumstick by hanging onto the bone.

For me the flavor of meat cooked with the bone is always far more
tastier...I never buy boneless anything (well, except hamburger, of
course or other types of ground meat). Never buy boneless chops, ham,
roasts, or chicken. I prefer chicken with the skin on it too, but I do
remove it from the bigger pieces, such as thighs, because of the fat,
and we both have to watch our cholesterol now.

I think in my "other life" I was a dog, as love chewing around the
bones, especially ribs, chicken and pork chops--yum!

I don't think I've ever seen/had a roast with a bone. Yes, I have seen
pics.

My husband and my dad and I think maybe even my nephew like to chew meat
from bones. Me? Not a meat lover. I do like lean crispy bacon though.
And what does removing chicken skin have to do with cholesterol?

Forgot about the mac and cheese. But don't agree on the pizza or ice cream.
Those are two things I wouldn't touch as a kid. Daughter would eat ice
cream but never pizza. I can remember hearing kids whining about that at
birthday parties. Oh no! Not pizza again!

I think we've all come to the conclusion that your family is an exception to
all things food. I'd not bolster your argument by using any of you as an
example.

I liked chili as a kid but don't know too many kids who do. Don't know any
who like sauerkraut.

I think hotdogs are not too popular here because they really push healthy
foods in the schools. There was a brief period of time when Angela would
eat one with no bun. And maybe twice a year I would buy uncured beef ones
that my husband said were good. But she won't touch those or anything
breaded like chicken nuggets or fried chicken because it is not good for
you.
