Corned beef brisket is on sale at Publix tomorrow for (get ready)
$3.89/lb. You folks in other places who can get it for under $2/lb really should stock up if you like corned beef. As much as I love it, this isn't much of an incentive. (sigh) Jill |

I'm considering emailing them to ask why everyone else in the country seems to be able to buy corned beef for much less. Jill |

Do you have a way other than writing to corporate headquarters to request particular items at that store? Maybe that particular store has a "captive audience" so they're getting away with highway robbery due to no real competition. -- Food is an important part of a balanced diet. |

This is the only one near me. I did email them right after I posted this, BTW. I said I'm curious as to why much of the country seems to be able to buy it for so much less. I haven't heard back. I got an auto-reply saying someone would be in touch within 24-48 hours. Since it's now Friday I'm not holding my breath waiting for an answer before St. Patrick's Day. Their "competition" is Food Lion. It's probably a decent enough store but it really needs a makeover. It just feels dingy. The floor tiles look like they belong in a kitchen from the 1960s. And the lighting in the store makes it seem very dim. I see in their online sales flyer, they have corned beef for $2.99/lb. It doesn't specify point or flat cut. Oh, and you have to have their "MVP card" to get that price. I *hate* those cards. Just give me the damn sale price! Jill |

Corned beef is never on sale the way people talk about here where I live, either. Wow, that is one bad sentence. Anyway, if I saw corned beef at under 2 bucks a pound, I'd be all over that, too. It's closer to $4 on sale. I always check after St. Patrick's Day, but they might go for 50 cents a pound less than before. Maybe. nancy |

After seeing the ones at Winco, I'm glad I have the Costco one. The Costco corned beef has a thick piece of meat and a decent fat cap. The Winco is a fairly thin piece of meat with a thick fat cap. Maybe it all balances out in the end, but the Costco product is a much prettier piece of meat. The brand is Shenson and is a flat cut. You don't want to read the side panel and find out the sodium percentage -- but it's really just once a year for us. Janet US |

I rarely buy bags of potatoes; don't need that many. I buy them loose from the farm stand. Jill |
