Way to give your employees notice, assholes! Sorry for the loss of a "landmark" but they could have given these folks more notice so they could look for other jobs. Sheesh. Jill |

There's any number of good reasons to assume they were fighting to find investors, silent partners and such up until the last minute. It's a pretty old institution. I assume the last few weeks were filled with endless jockeying. |

I place like that, some of those folks probably worked there for years. Now they're all out on their asses. Hopefully they had something else lined up. Jill |

You don't want a disgruntled, soon to be unemployed, cook or server getting revenge and end up with a hundred sick customers. |

Kosher delis are disappering, they go out of business because the foods have become too pricy for most folk's pocket and the health departments crack down on their prep methods, which still require they use the old methods in order to produce the same products that people are used to.. much of that food prep requires fermentation at temperatures above what modern health codes dictate. Most of the food prep methods are not written anywhere so when the old owners pass on they take their secrets with them. |

It's easy to check the local health departments violations in OC. I do it for grins every few months. My favorite places have been shut down on occasion, but not for anything really egregious. > I'd bet many of the staff had been there for decades. Sad! > Hope they get unused vacation pay! I hope they all get 3 months of severence. > I wonder if the Stage Deli in the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City > also closed.. |
