Target meat
 

Who was it that made the claim that they sell enhanced meat? I thought it
was sf but apparently not. I have never seen such meat there although
granted I didn't look at all of it. But I did look online and can't see
any. Could you please tell me what it is specifically that you saw there
that is enhanced? Thanks!

Agree, almost all of Target's fresh meat is "injected with xx%
of something to enhance/preserve/whatever." Look on the
labels, it will be there somewhere, even on the Angus beef.
Just like Walmart.

The meat is not sold online. Says prices vary by store but... You can put
in the zip code of the store you want to shop at and it will tell you if
they have it in stock or not.

I did look on the labels and it didn't say that. They do sell organic meat
and that it is what I buy. It's not enhanced with anything.

I highly doubt that. I have been to two Targets. One is larger and sells
more variety. The organic meat was at the smaller store.

If you want a can of soup, a package of pasta, a box of crackers, a bag of
chips, a package of cheese (yes even fancy and imported cheese), soda pop,
coffee, etc., they sell the same items that the grocery stores in this area
sell. They also have their own brand of stuff. I have had no problems with
their stuff except for a pasta sauce that we bought a long time ago that
didn't taste right to me. And that oregano. But it may well be that both
were the same brand and both were that same kind of oregano.

Yes there are some things we can not get there. Like full sized whole wheat
bagels. They do have the mini. They also do not have as much selection of
bread as a regular grocery store sells. Or as many varieties of dried
beans. But again... If I need to make a meal, they do sell enough that I
can do that and it doesn't have to involve processed foods. It's all fresh
and it's all fine, IMO.

Years afterwards? AFAIK the fresh food dept. is a new thing. We didn't get
it till August. You just posted that they now sell. As though it were a
new thing. I will look when I go in there. I just don't believe this.

I didn't shift anything! The Targets here *do* sell organic meat. It's not
all organic but they do sell it. Contains no additives at all. sw claimed
that it all constrained enhancers except for the brisket. I don't even know
they sell brisket. But I will look for that too.

I never said that they did not. I just asked for proof that they do. What
they sell *is* listed online. I looked and didn't see any. Nor did I see
any evidence of it when I did a search on the subject. So far nobody has
been able to offer up proof.

I don't buy a lot of meat. When I do buy it, I tend to buy organic.

Well now I *will* specifically go and look for it. Why did I not look for
it before? Because as I said, I pretty much *only* buy organic meats. But
*you* are the one who said that all of their meats were enhanced except for

look at for answers about it. I can only tell you that I read labels
and I wasn't impressed.

Well I don't know about where you live but pretty much ALL of the grocery
stores here sell Hormel pork products. Perhaps Central Market doesn't. I
don't know. That's one item. One that I say doesn't amount to much. You
rather implied that the chicken and beef were also enhanced.

So are you now saying that you won't shop in a store that sells Hormel pork?

Ground beef is the main item of meat that I buy. Occasionally chicken,
turkey, bacon or other beef items. I don't really know what is or is not
enhanced and AFAIK I have never bought any enhanced meats.

We do not have Super Targets here AFAIK. We do have some with fresh foods.
And it is a very new thing here. I would assume that "Super" means a full
grocery department and that is not what we have. They probably added maybe
8 aisles of shelf stable stuff. There is more ice cream and dairy. There
is probably a 6-8 foot section of fresh meat. More bread and bakery
products. Fresh produce. More frozen items than they had before. And some
prepared foods that they didn't have before.

Anything with the name "Hormel" on it! I would assume that there are many
deli type meats that are enhanced. I don't really know this because we
don't buy that stuff but it would seem like there would be and your typical
grocery store would sell those things too. But that's not what I'm talking
about here. You said the meat was injected with stuff like Walmart meat.

Not all stores are Super Targets.

I would find it *very* hard to believe that the Super Targets do not also
carry organic meats.

If a store sells only enhanced meats, then I won't buy my meat there. But
as long as I *can* get what I prefer to buy then I really don't care what
all other meats they sell. Having worked in retail all of my life I do know
that it is in the best interest of a store such as Target to appeal to a
wide variety of people.

Some stores want to appeal to the low end customers. Not saying that only
the low end customers will shop there but that is who they are attracting.
Such stores IMO would be Walmart and Aldi. I'm sure there are others.

Well, I have not seen enhanced meat in *my* Target store. There may well be
pork products. We do not buy pork products except for some bacon at Costco
and once in a great while some ham if I see it for really cheap and I am low
on funds.

The way it sounded was that all of the meat that they sell is enhanced
because they were compared to Walmart. I seriously beg to differ.

No. I did not say that they did not carry enhanced meat. You implied that
*most* of the meat was enhanced and *she* implied that it all is. I know
that I have bought meat there and I know that I do not buy that kind. I
asked you to prove that their meat was enhanced and you put up a link to a
Hormel pork chop that is likely sold in most all groceries stores. In fact
in doing my search, I now know that Butterball turkey is in fact enhanced.
That turkey is sold really everywhere around here except perhaps for the
health food stores, Central Market, Whole Foods and Trader Joes which sf
does not consider to be a grocery store.
