I'm enjoying "You can't catch Death"; would be a good book for a recovery
group.

I read more than half of the posts here--I am a very fast reader--and
have plenty of time to cook, though I admit to not doing my share of
the dish washing.

I just read Brautigan did not actually leave a note. There are a lot of
places that report he wrote: "messy, isn't it?" before he shot himself in
the head. But his daughter says that is apocryphal... According to the
wikipedia edits, it was changed Sept 18, 2012. He died in '84, so that is
a long time for an apocryphal story to linger. There is a reference now in
wiki saying the note is not real and has a citation. "Michael Caines, My
Richard Brautigan Mistake. In his Times Literary Supplement blog, September
25, 2012."

I've read 5 pages of "an unfortunate woman" and so far I like it... It's
very short, barely over 100 pages... I've never read any Faulkner, and
would like to read "As I lay Dying" Ianthe mentions it. I hear that is a
good place to start.

I just finished it, and liked it. Made me chuckle out loud every few
pages.
