I like Chopped and The Next Food Network Star. Not sure you could call
those cooking shows although they are about cooking. I also like the local
PBS shows. As for the rest of what is on, I don't know how current they are
and they are not things I usually choose to watch.

I like a lot of them (mostly people who have put in years on
television), but one old timer I like is Ina Garten and a new timer
would be Kelsey Nixon.

I wonder... Do the French have any topless cooking shows? Like the
Scandavian Naked News.

There used to be a coffee house in Toronto where the cook was naked.
http://www.openfile.ca/toronto/blog/...nto-mynah-bird
{
For the next few years, the Mynah Bird tried topless anything. In
December 1967 Kerr introduced Wyche, “the world’s first topless
folksinger,” whose guitar covered her from armpits down. The following
spring silent nudie movies from the UK were screened in the Jungle
Room, which consisted mainly of busty women slipping off their tops
and into sudsy tubs. In May 1971, Kerr placed a classified in the
Globe and Mail for a “nude chef.” Applicants were interviewed by
Kerr’s mother-in-law, who he claimed was a chef and dietician. Apart
from wearing a legally-mandated chef’s hat, the cooks served up
sandwiches and drinks in the buff. Kerr’s increasing obsession with
nudity led Mynah Birds bassist Bruce Palmer to later call him “the
Larry Flynt of Yorkville.”

He also did some cooking on Malcolm in the Middle. Odd that show has only
S1 released on DVD. Netflix has all the seasons though.

We'll have that stuff here soon enough, the courts have cleared the
way for nudity.

But she hasn't made any new shows in about 4 years. She's moved on
and has no show, other than repeats, on tv. But I did like watching
her cook, everything did look really good and she didn't get all crazy
and frazzled in the kitchen.

What did you think of this week's Ina show? She had the following
recipes . I am going to try the chicken one. . .I think it sounds
good. I am really curious about the light mayo one. I can't imagine
how you could incorporate a 2.5 minute poached egg into oil to make a
mayo and not have egg bits in there.

Lemon Chicken Breasts
2010, Barefoot Contessa How Easy is That?, All Rights Reserved

4 servings

Ingredients
" 1/4 cup good olive oil
" 3 tablespoons minced garlic (9 cloves)
" 1/3 cup dry white wine
" 1 tablespoon grated lemon zest (2 lemons)
" 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
" 1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
" 1 teaspoon minced fresh thyme leaves
" Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
" 4 boneless chicken breasts, skin on (6 to 8 ounces each)
" 1 lemon
Directions
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Warm the olive oil in a small saucepan over medium-low heat, add the
garlic, and cook for just 1 minute but don't allow the garlic to turn
brown. Off the heat, add the white wine, lemon zest, lemon juice,
oregano, thyme, and 1 teaspoon salt and pour into a 9 by 12-inch
baking dish.
Pat the chicken breasts dry and place them skin side up over the
sauce. Brush the chicken breasts with olive oil and sprinkle them
liberally with salt and pepper. Cut the lemon in 8 wedges and tuck it
among the pieces of chicken.
Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, depending on the size of the chicken
breasts, until the chicken is done and the skin is lightly browned. If
the chicken isn't browned enough, put it under the broiler for 2
minutes. Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil and allow to rest
for 10 minutes. Sprinkle with salt and serve hot with the pan
juices

Daniel Boulud's Light Mayonnaise
2011, Daniel Boulud, All Rights Reserved

Ingredients
" 1 egg
" White wine vinegar
" 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
" 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
" 1 cup peanut oil
" Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
Directions
Poach the egg in vinegar water for 2 to 3 minutes.
Place the egg in a blender with the mustard and red wine vinegar and
blend with the peanut oil. Add the seasonings at the end.

I didn't see her 'chicken' show. I did catch a bit of her show today
with the guest chef and they prepared lemon Napoleons. Not wild about
lemon but the end results looked really good minus the blackberry
garnish.

Does that really matter for him and his purposes? It's a new episode
if he hasn't seen it before.

Too bad they rerun old shows and it's too bad that we have to research
how old the shows are for people who answer like you. I knew the
cooking channel was supposed to be reruns... but that doesn't explain
why the shows like Kelsey Nixon's are on.

BTW: I think she did very well for someone who finished FOURTH on The
Next Food Network Star.
