Hi to everyone here,
If you've read my posts so far, you know I'm not a big fan of the EVOO taste. I do like a hint of it in some dishes though so I like to keep some on hand. I used up the last of what I had on that white pizza almost 2 weeks ago. I've always bought Pompeian brand EVOO. It's the cheapest but because of that, am I missing out on a better taste? A 4-5 oz bottle of it will last me for a couple of years - that's how little I use. If a more expensive brand would taste better (to me), I'm willing to pay more since I don't use it often anyway. Well, there are at least 2 dozen brands in the grocery store and I don't have a clue. I'm willing to accept others opinions here on what is a good brand to buy. I'm sure I'll hear of many different brands but your brand compared to Pompeian would help me to decide. No hurry either as I have nothing planned for it in the near future. Any responses will be appreciated. I almost bought Pompeian again this morning but then decided to ask. Gary Also....once opened, can EVOO stay on the shelf (and not in the fridge) like regular oil? |
