Why keep it around taking up shelf space, attracting rodents and bugs, when something you do use, rice, is always on hand? -- I love cooking with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food. |

Well, it was an accidental discovery in an evil moment; and it must be admitted that WB is completely unattractive to any living thing, let alone bugs and rodents. |

Bread, stale or fresh, works just fine. It sort of rubs and scrubs the bowl and blade. I don't know why one would need a hard grain to scour the bowl. A lot of finely powdered spice builds up around the base of the blade. The softness of the bread just rubs it up and keeps it in the bread crumbs. But, whatever floats the individual boat is good.
