Default Ranting about raisins

I have always like Dole Raisins, plump and juicy like advertised, but they
seem to have disappeared in the Midwest. Krogers, Meijers, Spartan
supermarkets not even Wallymart seems to be carrying them anymore here in
Michigan. They tasted great, probably due some unnatural means. If it taste
good it was probably unnatural.

Eating SunMade raisins was like eating dried out stems. I tried some local
organic brands and they hade a really strong overpowering flavor. I have
not found a good substitute raisin yet. One store that I have not tried yet
is Whole Foods Market.

Still looking for Dole Raisins or a good substitute, but have no wish for
mail-order.

To tell the truth, I rather like quite dried up fruits: apricots, figs
and raisins and I think I prefer some of the cheaper raisins to Dole's
juicy ones.

The dried up ones may be ok for making cookies or for oatmeal because they
seem to absorb moisture. However for general eating right of the box... I
prefer the juicy ones to begin with. SunMade is like eating sticks.

Have you tried the bulk bins in better grocery stores or 'health food
stores'....??

I have not yet been to whole foods yet. But I find it odd that last year
Dole raisins was sold everywhere. Now they are nowhere to be found in any
store around me.

Have you tried asking someone who does the ordering what's up with
that?

Or going to the Dole website and asking them?

Do you have a BJ's around? Their store brand raisins are a mixture
of 3-4 *giant* *juicy* raisins.

No BJ's here. However I will have to expand my taste. Not positive, but I
think local stores trying to save more money by limiting the brands they
carry. I also believe just about every store is also trying to push their
own store brands and it improves there profit margin by eliminating foods
that are superior to their own store brands.

So far no one yet has stated they sell Dole raisins in their local market.

Dole raisins is still on the dole web site. I have done a google search on
why store not carrying them and found no results or have not googled the
correct keywords. Like another poster stated, perhaps I should ask the
store to carry them and they just might.

California or the golden are not here. No Dole raisins at all. Sounds like
not on the east coast also. I will just have to sample everything and
settle down and find another brand.

It does seem to be my fate in life. When I like something... Then they take
it away.

Find this: Master Sibamba giant dried white grapes from Chile. I just
translated that from the label on a packet I bought today. My daughter buys
them in the US but I don't know a brand.

They are very large and very juicy. I use them in my work where the beauty
of a raisin counts, and sometimes marinate them in lemon juice for salty
dishes or liqueur for sweet ones.

The store would have a quicker and more accurate explanation about why
it's not being stocked in that particular store. Corporate Dole can
only talk about general regions, not if/why they are stocked or not
stocked in specific stores.

In our supermarkets here, Dole dried fruits (including raisins) are
located in the produce section, usually hanging on an end cap, next to
the jarred garlic, etc.

I will look for them, I like the word juicy when it comes to raisins for
plain eating.

That's where use to be here also, in the produce section... But no more.

No. I did not find them anywhere. I only found the web site that shows Dole
does make raisins that cannot be found in the my shopping area. You were
the one that stated you could not find even their web site. So I posted the
site for your convenience.

Considering he hasn't been able to find them anywhere in his region,
that might be sufficient.
