Be advised Peter lives in OZ and the laws there make some things legal that
are not in other countries. That may not matter to you, but it's good to at
least be aware of it.

Next, like Steve says, ininstall the new software and the trial. Then,
http://download.openoffice.org/ has a MS Office clone, open source and free
(legal) in all countries. It will do what you need and more.

Nope, it's supposedly 'illegal' here too.

As stated just before, btjunkies site keeps your IP etc hidden/invisible,
so no one can see who's doing what.

btjunkie has been going for quite some time and I haven't yet heard of
anyone using it who's been busted.

I've tried Open Office, after being an MS Office user for about 15 or so
years, and it doesn't 'do it' for me.

Well, there are some things 'legal' where you are that aren't in some other
places. Your copywrite laws are quite different. It really is noticable
when it comes to shareware but there's other times when it comes up.

It's not so much getting busted. Some folks prefer to stay on the legal
side. Like me, clearance issues (lie detector tests, stuff like that).

I liked it well enough, then MS came up with a program for a 20$ copy of
Office 2010 for home use for all military and retired military. USA only I
believe? I registered and downloaded my copy, and paid a nominal extra fee
to have them mail me an install CD as well.

Before that, I used Open Office or it's ancestor, Star Office back in the
early 90's.
