Sky told me that StL museums and the zoo are still free, is that
really true? It's as good a reason as any for a day trip and if
hotels there are like hotels in SF, they have weekend deals... which
is a good enough reason to spend the night too.

The Zoo (except for the Children's Zoo and the shows)
http://www.stlzoo.org/
The sea lion show is SO worth the price.
and Art Museum are free (except for special touring exhibits).
http://mobot.org/
Our Botanical Garden is inexpensive,
http://mobot.org/
as is our Symphony if you order tickets far enough ahead of time to
get the cheapest seats.
http://www.stlsymphony.org/
This is right next to the park:
http://www.cheshirelodge.net/
This is right next to the Metrolink:
http://www.marriott.com/hotels/trave...ouis-galleria/
Both are in very safe areas. You might also check Traveocity, Orbitz,
etc. for hotels in Clayton. One of Travelocity's "Areas" is "Clayton/
Galleria/Brentwood." I don't think there's any hotel in that area
where I wouldn't happily stay, though a few might not have free
parking.
Another free museum: http://www.mohistory.org/
Then there's: http://www.grantsfarm.com/

Thanks Bryan. I don't know if I'll ever get a chance to use that
list, but I'm saving it for the future. Who knows? Maybe someday one
of the airlines will have an offer I can't refuse on a round trip
SFO-STL.

BTW (I nominate you to pursue this matter further)... St. Louis
International Airport doesn't have its airport code on the front page
of it's web site, not even on the area map. Bad assumption and HUGE
oversight. I looked in at least six places and it wasn't there
either. I finally had to Google specifically for "airport code St
Louis".

I took up the same matter with a different airport once upon a time.
They were grateful for the head's up and added their airport code
information the following business day. I was surprised it happened
so quickly, but I suppose they were glad to get useful feedback about
what information I was looking for at their site.

And, the St Louis Science Center and Omnimax theater:

http://www.slsc.org/Home.aspx

Much free, of course the Omnimax and special events cost.

What's obvious to you - isn't to me. San Francisco teams don't use
SFO, Oakland teams don't use OAK, San Jose teams don't use SJC and LA
teams don't use LAX.
