Most of what passes as "press" these days should be deep fried. It seems
the only job qualification is a left or right wing bias. Writing skills,
research skills, or even knowledge of how to use a spell checker seem to
be disqualifiers

I saw that human body exhibit on some show. Fascinating but
eerie.

I live 4 miles from the fairgrounds. You can smell the deep fat all the way
over here. Seriously.

The latest deep fried PB & J sandwiches and chocolate dipped bacon wrapped
Oreo.

http://www.lacountyfair.com/fp/compa..._PURE._INDULGE

Whether you are craving salty, sweet, crunchy, deep-fried, on-a-stick,
dipped in chocolate, dipped in batter, smothered in powdered sugar - or
steamed artichokes, the L.A. County Fair is ready to serve you up a plate.
With more than 250 food vendors serving more than one thousand different
items, it's no wonder food is one of the top two reasons people visit the
Fair (shopping is the other!).

New this year is the chocolate-dipped bacon-wrapped Oreo. It's a meal and
dessert in one! With a flavorful explosion of the sweetness of chocolate,
the salty bacon and the fluffy creamy middle of the Oreo - it's a treat
Fairguests must put on their "To Try" lists.

Fair food icon Charlie Boghosian, aka Chicken Charlie, is back with a menu
of deep-fried and eclectic treats. Charlie's latest concoction just for the
L.A. County Fair is the deep-fried PB&J sandwich. Be prepared with a milk
chaser. Also new to this year's Fair is the deep-fried Klondike bar, of
which he sold thousands and thousands at fairs in San Diego and Orange
counties earlier this year. In addition to serving Fair favorites deep-fried
frog legs and the zucchini weenie, Charlie is expanding his healthy Fair
cuisine with Charlie's By the Sea. This new stand will feature calamari and
other sumptuous seafood. Speaking of healthy, Charlie also features his
homemade-from-his-mother's-recipe hummus, tabbouleh and vegetable and
chicken skewers.

Not hot by SoCal standards, about 95F.

Way too many young and indiscrimate bladders for me to go near that water.
Then you have the children.

Not any more kids just grandkids. However I'll never forget when they
conned me into going on one of those 6 story slides. I think after the
final drop I screamed Holy SH**! Never again I discovered I don't like free
fall.
