Default What is 'courgettes'?

I have a magazine-like cookbook of mediteranean recipes ('taste of Greece'
by Joanna Farrow and Jacqueline Clarke) and it uses names for some
ingredients that I just don't know what the American counterpart is. In one
recipe is calls for 1 large aubergine, which I know is egg plant, and 2
large courgettes. What are courgettes? Help!

U.S.

You didn't, but SCUBApix did - and I don't have the original post on my
server. Your answer was the first in the thread.

Thanks. Your post implied I said something about egg plant. While I do
love egg plant (battered and fried or in a lovely parmesan with tomatoes and
basil) I didn't mention that particular veggie.

They can be yellow and orange as well. I personally choose always the
yellow ones when I buy courgettes at my local organic farmers' market
here in London.
