Default My 12" carbon steel wok shopping continues after the wrong item wassent by the rude lady from The Wokshop"

The Wokshop has sent me the wrong item for the wok though the lid was
the orrect one.

I asked for 12 " carbon steel w/wood handles"
(http://www.wokshop.com/HTML/products...d-handles.html) but
she sent me "carbon steel w/steel handles (http://www.wokshop.com/HTML/
products/woks/wok-carbon-steel-steel-handles.html) and insisted that I
asked for the one with steel handles. This error occured after I
talked to her a couple of times within 2 days period) before I finally
placed the order, even telling her that I saw the price for the wok to
be $19.95, not $16.95 as she was telling me. She said, "Oh, we have
so many kinds" and I thought that she was sending me the one from a
different manufacturer but the exact same kind I was requesting.

As the owner of the store, I don't understand how she didn't know her
products since the flat lid I ordered (see shown at
http://www.wokshop.com/HTML/products...cess_lids.html)
doesn't seal perfectly when the lid is fitted to that wok w/ steel
handles that she sent (see the link above). While I had to spend
money to ship back, she refused to give full refund for the shipping
fees from her store to my address. She only refunded $4.00 for the
shipping cost.

She was rude which was nothing new to me when it comes to the oriental
shopkeepers having ot take the treturns. So, after researching and
spending time to make sure that a problem like wouldn't occur if I
were to place order directly with The Wokshop rather than buying
through Amazon, the shit still happened. So, I am not giving her any
more business as I have lost $4.00 in shipping from SF to my place +
return shipping cost which I took delivery confirmation + insurance.
The way she was rude, I wasn’t going to take a chance her telling me
that she didn't receive the items.

I have had very bad experience trying to support one Asian business in
the past. It was a Vietnamese dentist not far from where I live. I
spent over $200 for the X-rays (full set + bite wings) and 6 mos
later, I was going to have to move to another city and asked for the X-
Ray and he wouldn't give me all of it. Come to think of it. I should
write a online review about that.

Anyway, since I can't find a 12" wok with two handles (either both are
ear loops or one helper handle w/ the other one ear loop) anywhere
else, I am considering this 13-inch Super-thin Cast Iron Wok - it has
good reviews:
http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden...tml?rcmndsrc=2

As long as it is not heavy, my brother will like it and in case he
decided not to keep it someday, I can take it. Any comment on this 13-
inch Super-thin Cast Iron Wok?

Default My 12" carbon steel wok shopping continues after the wrong item was sent by the rude lady from The Wokshop"

I just went to eBay and got a heavily used, aka seasoned, 14 inch hammered
high carbon steel wok with lid when I was shopping for one. It was ready to
use right out of the box and I didn't even have to break it in. I think I
paid about 35 bucks for it. I suppose a lot of people get them, use them
for a while then decide they need to space back and also get tired of Asian
food. Not that you can't use woks for all sorts of things. I deep fry in
mine though the instability on the stove is a bit of an issue.

Have you ever thought of going to an Asian market? Oriental
market??? Usually they have all kinds of woks and
utensils and dishes and steamers and everything else.

It's not unusual for medical professionals to refuse
to release x-rays to patients. That breaks the chain
of custody. They usually want to pass them on directly
to other medical professionals.

Believe it nor not. None of the Asian stores have the carbon steel
kind. They have the nonstick ones.

My dentist booked an appointment for me with a specialist and she
gave me the most recent x-rays to take with me rather than send it
by courier. I will of course have to return them, but she had no
problem with me having them in my possession for a month and a
half.

But he didn't offer that. Beside, I ddn't know whom my next dentist
would be since I was moving to a new city. He was just being a
typical oriental as*. So, I talked to my old dentist's office to get
those X-ray with intention to move those to my new dentists in a new
town but I ended up not moving. I only stopped going to the old
dentist only because he wanted to fill teeth that most dentists do not
consider as cavity since they are just the natural pockets. I tell
you how I hate the dentists in CA most of whom are thieves. And that
vietnamese dentist only sent the bite winds, not the full teeth. It
was clear intention to cause me to have to spend money in my first
visit at the next dentist for a full teeth X-Ray.

Why do they need a chain of custody, they're not crime scene investigators.

I am pretty sure that for you to make such a conclusion without being
there when I placed the order is an indication that you are lacking
basic ability in logic and reason that 8 year olds are capable of.

When I wanted to get a second opinion on my rhinitis, whether I should
get surgery or not for long term's sake, I requested the CT scan to be
sent to the new doctor wihth whom I made the appointment. I had to
request in written form. Guess what? On the day of the apointment, I
learned that the new doctor only got a written copy of the report by
the lab tech, not the CT scan itself nor a report by the previous
doctor. I still had to pay for the office visit. ****ed me off as
hell. When I was leaving Texas, I called and told them that I'd be
coming to get the CT Scan myself and I did. With the doctor's office
where I had mammogram done which I rotuinely did after finding a lump
that turned out to be benign, I was told that they're the properties
of the clinic. So I said, I paid for it and they're your properties?
I told them that I would find out the law in Texas in regard to that
and that I was pretty sure that it was the same as in CA, where my
sister was a physician. The next thing I knew, they called me to come
get the mammograms. Coincidentally, I learned that that doctor was
doing some research. Make sense wy she wanted to hold onto mine which
I paid for. Talk about white collar thieves!

How HORRIBLE! You know what you should do? You should post about it to
USENET! That'll show HER!

Did you suggest that she get a race change operation so that she wouldn't be
oriental anymore? Because it sounds like those orientals are really jerks.

You betcha. Especially when they start pretending they don't speak
English (or EngRish, as they call it) that well. That's when I slip in
a few cuss words, just to see if they can keep from reacting.

But occidental shopkeepers are bad at having to take the returns, too,
as this classic sociological documentary shows:

I doubt the cuss words are a good idea. Those are the first ones they
learn! I don't think AmandaF/Mandy/Manda is too upset about the poor
English. Hers isn't that great, despite her huge collection of advanced
degrees from US schools. What really frosts her is that they aren't
fluent in Thai. How can an Asian person do business in the US without
being fluent in Thai? How is she supposed to do business with them?

From things she's written in the past, I really do think she's Burmese
rather than Thai. Apparently her family lost a fortune during some
unspecified governmental turmoil, and given the time period, Burma seems
more likely than Cuba. Cambodia would be a strong possibility, but amandaF's
chief culinary interests seem split betweeen Indian and Thai food, just as
Burma lies between those two countries.

I've been to the Wokshop in San Francisco several times. Well
stocked, reasonable prices, with a friendly, knowledgeable and helpful
staff. I've not been to the website or ordered from them. It would
surprise me if they messed up an order.

I don't know MandaR/AmandaF but I've read many of her posts. It would
not surprise me if she messed up an order. -aem

Burmese, without a doubt. Too bad she's more like the Burmese Python than
those sweet little Burmese cats.

i was puzled by the 'perfect seal' part. no wok lid i've seen has a
'perfect seal' - there's no lip, like most western pans have. it just sits
where it sits.
