Default Rec: Piggybacking on a couple of other posts - Bay leaves and microwaved potatoes

Okay, I've read a few threads here about microwaving potatoes in cotton
batting, synthetic covers and paper towel. Also, do you or do you not
remove a bay leaf from a cooked item, and some who prefer powdered bay leaf.

Found this moldie oldie, originally aired on Jeff Smith's Frugal Gourmet.
They are really pretty good.

Cut a baking potato in half length-wise. Salt and pepper both cut sides.
Place a bay leaf (or leaves) the length of the potato. Use kitchen twine and
tie the pieces of potato back together. Microwave 4 - 6 minutes, or until
potato is tender. Remove twine and bay leaf, don't want some of you
removing the bay leaf and choking on the string (evil grin). Top with your
usual baked potato toppings.
