I stopped at the local produce market to pick up a couple of things when
I spotted a small display of fresh garbanzos. I had never seen them before. I bought about a quarter of a pound - they were 4.99 per pound. They are very light but there are also a lot of empty pods so you have to pick carefully. What do you do with them beside just eat them raw. They have a very green, fresh taste. Here's a picture. http://tinypic.com/r/b7apup/6 -Tracy |

Didn't know that there are basically one bean to a pod. After all the work of shelling enough to make a meal....well, needless to say we didn't plant garbanzo beans anymore. |

You could use the fresh ones since the recipe calls for cooked or canned. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/24/di...tml?ref=dining |
