James wants chocolate-cake pancakes. No, not pancake batter with
chocolate added, but he wants to see if chocolate cake batter will cook up as pancakes. We'll see. If the first few don't come out well, I'll bake the rest of the batter as a cake. I'm using Hershey's Perfectly Chocolate Cake recipe: http://www.hersheys.com/recipes/reci...ail.asp?id=184 Serene -- 42 Magazine, celebrating life with meaning. They were good; a little flimsy compared to regular pancakes, but they were doable, and James really liked them (I put raspberry syrup on his -- well, actually, just some of Barb's raspberry jam heated up. I'm fixin' to raid that box of jam I bought from Barb' earlier this year to make up some Christmas boxes for the Chiropractors office and the Physical therapy office. You bet tho' that some of the Raspberry stuff is staying _here_ tho'! Rare and precious and it does indeed go well with chocolate. <g> -- Peace! Two ideas: omit the cup of boiling water at the end of the recipe; or use more eggs, but then they might be chocolate crepes, which wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. The texture was fine in the eating; they were just hard to flip without breaking. Serene -- 42 Magazine, celebrating life with meaning. But he did like them a lot, and the cake is, of course, good, because that's the basic chocolate cake there. Serene -- 42 Magazine, celebrating life with meaning. No matter how they come out, you were willing to give James's idea a try. Felice |

I hate chocolate and fruit, so I had mine without the sauce, though I do love Barb's raspberry stuff on toast and so on. I poured the rest of the sauce over some cottage cheese and had that for lunch. Serene -- 42 Magazine, celebrating life with meaning. One time, he wanted to see how it would be to pickle a bunch of small round things, so he made pickled quail eggs, baby onions, etc. I think I took a pictu http://pics.livejournal.com/serenejo...c/0000c7w2/g19 Serene -- 42 Magazine, celebrating life with meaning. Have you done the spice/herb sampling yet? My girls once spent most of an afternoon tasting 50 or so of them, using a box of flat toothpicks. Felice |

I'd add a couple tablespoons of flour and beat an extra minute to develop the gluten further. Bob |
